“It is like walking in the streets of a Greek Island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014

Anafiotika is a lovely neighborhood just below the Acropolis.
This sight should not be missed!

If you are a tourist and you don't have the time or money to visit a Greek island Anafiotika is the place to be.

Small picturesque houses, small lovely gardens with flower pots, many cats, and it is just magic.

Of course there are many restaurants in short proximity....mind you they can be overpriced. Better have that in mind, and in case you decide to order and you are brought something that you judge is not of good quality or burnt, ask the management to take it back.

Luckily not all restaurants are the same …just be alert!

“Of you're into mazes?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

I am, so I enjoyed the twists and turns. Can be hard to find the real Anafiotika (see my photo of map that shows one entry spot). Some of it is very run down and rarely visited.

“Great food, service, and atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Fantastic place to dine with lots of locals. The restaurant is under the Acropolis and there is a great view of the historic landmark walking up to the restaurant at night. The host and wait staff was very friendly. The food was really good also.

“Cute but overrated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

This little neighborhood on the NE slope of the Acropolis was cute but I did not find it as amazing as many others. Its a steep hike up from the Plaka, and basically consists of a bunch of unique homes with narrow pathways that have great views of Athens. The same views we had seen from the Acropolis the previous day. Lots of pretty flowers and stray cats. It was photo friendly.
