We went for a stroll to Thisio after maaaany years, and although this part of Athens is not as popular as it used to be it still holds its charm with the beautiful views of Acropolis, Lycabettus and the Observatory. Melitis restaurant was the only one that stood out from the rest of the establishments. We decided to have a quick bite and a couple of glasses of wine (2 persons). We had 1/2 kilo of the white house wine which was very nice, flat with average body - something that fits most palettes. We also got a meat variety for 2 persons, there were 2 beef patties, 2 pieces of chicken breast, pork cutlets and sausages. All seemed to be of excellent quality and properly grilled. They were accompanied by a handful of french fries and 2 pitta breads. All in all the bill came at 23 euros if i remember correctly. It was surely good value for our money and we had a great supper gazing at the people wandering this charming part of ancient Athens. If in the neighborhood, have it in mind :)

Had high hopes for this place. Looked nice and staff were friendly and inviting. Once we were seated, though, the service was poor. Asked about hummus and the guy had no idea what we meant (in Greece!) and everything took forever to come out. Based on server's recommendation, we went with the mixed meat platter for two. Everything was overdone and very dry. Luckily we had ordered pizza for the kids as we all made a meal of it.

Nice service, good food, we were happy to have diner there.
Close to thissio metro station and the agora, it is a good alternative to the noisy Adrianou Street.

Last night in Athens ... Walking around the Acropolis ... Random choice - very good ... Greek salad, zucchini balls and baked eggplant- all tasty but subtly different ... Attentive service ... Great ambienceQuite honestly my advice is that there are soooo many eating choices and all we tried have been very good - you almost can't go wrong at any place - food is taken quite seriously in Greece
