Wow! AVA Hotel has to be the best hotel in Athens. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and could not be more helpful. They gave us tips on where to eat, how to get around, places to visit, etc... We stayed in a family suite that fit my family of 4. The room was clean, and the bathroom was perfect (especially after a long flight overseas). The view from our balcony was absolutely incredible! Looking to the right, we had a fantastic view of the Acropolis, and the Temple of Zeus and Arch of Hadrian were a 20 second walk to the left from the hotel. Everything was so close and AVA Hotel is definitely a home away from home. I will stay here every time I visit Athens!

My wife & I stayed at the Ava Hotel & Suites in early May 2011 for 5 nights. On arrival the staff made us feel very welcome. Having unpacked our bags we were invited down to the lobby where we were given maps and a good description of the local area and sights.

We had booked a Regular Suite and were not disappointed. It was spacious, very clean and had a little kitchenette area in which we could prepare and cook food if we wanted. There was no microwave, however there was a fridge and a two-ring hob along with pots and pans, cutlery etc., and this was more than adequate for our needs, and certainly more than we have had at many other hotels.

Breakfast was first class with all the usual continental style selections as well as scrambled (or fried) eggs and bacon.

The Ava Hotel is ideally located in the district of Plaka. It is within easy walking distance of most of the major attractions. The area of Plaka is made up of old narrow streets full of shops, bars and restaurants. A real delight!

We decided to book a day trip to Hydra, a beautiful island about 1:30 hrs away from Athens by hydrofoil. When I went to collect the tickets from a nearby travel agent the shop was closed and a note (in Greek) was posted in the window. I told the staff about this when I got back to the hotel and one of the receptionists immediately offered to walk down to the shop to read the note, and promptly returned to tell us what it said. Now that's what I call good service!

There was only one disappointment with the hotel, and it is a point that the Ava should be aware of and correct. In some of the hotel’s advertising the roof-top terrace is mentioned as being available to guests. I quote from a free magazine we found at the airport... "The only dilemma customers will face is whether to stay in the luxurious haven of the suite or venture up to the roof garden for a romantic tete-a-tete with the ageless monuments".
I had also seen something similar prior to booking the hotel, yet when we asked to go up to the roof garden we were told it was for staff only. I think Ava should make sure this is corrected immediately as use of the roof-top terrace with its view of the Acropolis could well play a significant part in deciding whether to choose this hotel.

Roof garden aside, the Ava is a lovely hotel right in the heart of Athens. The clean and spacious rooms, comfy beds, lovely breakfast and extremely helpful staff make this a hotel I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Thank you for all your good words and your trust in our hotel. However, there appears to be a misunderstanding about the roof garden. AVA Hotel does not have a roof garden available at the moment. (Only the AVA Exclusive Suites have a large private veranda)
We are therefore surprised to hear that a travelling magazine is referring to a roof garden. We would be glad to have the name of this magazine, to correct the error and to avoid misinformation to our guests. Regarding our kitchenettes, we wish to clarify that all the Executive and Exclusive Suites do have a built-in microwave. In the other suites the microwaves (and other extra kitchen utensils, e.g. a toaster) are always available upon request.

Our two-day stay at Ava Hotel, Apartments and Suites was delightful. The room, the location, the staff and the service they provided all exceeded our expectations. We arrived at 9:30 AM, before our room was ready, but our luggage was happily looked-after. We had been notified by email following our booking that this might be the case, as the hotel was fully booked--now we can understand why. The staff were most helpful in suggesting activities for us while waiting for our room. We mentioned that this trip was a celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary, and, when we did get to our room at 1:30 PM, a bottle of complimentary sparkling wine awaited us. On both nights, we took advantage of the well-appointed kitchen to eat-in. The next morning, after a great sleep in a most comfortable king-sized bed, we discovered that our toilet was not functioning and the front-desk sent someone to investigate immediately. As the problem required a plumber (on a Sunday), we were given the option to move to another room (identical and immediately above the original) or to stay where we were with the assurance that the problem would be fixed latter the same day. We opted to change rooms, our luggage was moved by the staff, and an excellent, complimentary breakfast was offered as a token of the hotel's regret for our inconvenience. The whole thing was handled seamlessly and we could not have asked for more. I would happily recommend this venue to anyone visiting Athens.

This place rocks. Wheel your bag from the metro down a couple blocks over some cobble stones and THERE YOU ARE, Acropolis looming over one end of the street, Hadrian's Arch at the other end of the street. The front desk staff confiscates your burdens and even when you get there before check-in, they've got a refreshment for you and a restaurant recommendation, a map, someone already putting finishing touches on your room, and you are home. The rooms are beautiful, the building is perfect, and somehow one of the most touristy places in the world has this lovely place just off the hustle and bustle.

We relied on Trip Advisor to pick a hotel and we were not disappointed. We wanted somewhere good quality and within walking distance of most of the important sites surrounding the Acropolis. The hotel was just that - perfectly located with good standards without being stuffy so we never felt out of place in our casual gear. If we ever go again we would come back to this hotel.

Chose it owing to other trip advisor reviews. Had to stay in a more junior suite on the ground floor the first night which though comfortable, had a bathroom and especially a shower cubicle which you couldn't wash a cat in, let alone swing one. Things looked up thereafter when we moved up a couple of floors to a bigger suite with better sized bathroom and a balcony with views of nearby, ancient ruins. Despite being in the thick of things it doesn't come with the usual, impersonal, "next one please" attitude. It's relatively small and the staff are affable and make an effort. It's staggering distance from more bars and restaurants than you could shake a stick at and the hotel is happy to pass on guest recommendations in this regard. Breakfast is more than adequate and overall, I think that the place offers value for money and I can't see how you could go too far wrong with it.

The rooms were elegant, tasteful and comfortable. The breakfast provided every morning was superb in its variety and quality. The hotel is located within a short walk of the Acropolis, and other attractions. But even given all these features, the best thing about the AVA Hotel is the spectacular staff and their customer service professionalism. They were extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. I can't say enough good things about them, and so the Ava Hotel has my strongest recommendation.
