“Great Value, Location, Service”
Reviewed 13 July 2011

Stayed at the AVA Hotel Athens on the last night of our honeymoon.

We only had one night in Athens and the AVA was central to all of the top sights. The staff were extremely friendly. Upon check in they even brought us a bottle of champagne and box of chocolates to help us celebrate.

The room was spacious and extremely well appointed. Top-notch design and nice details really set the place apart. The kitchenette had a well-stocked mini bar, sink, stove and dishes, etc. Large king-sized bed.

The room had a balcony but the view of the back of the courtyard was less than impressive. It didn't matter much as we were out and about most of the day.

This hotel was a great value. Extremely nice, great location and fantastic service. There's a reason AVA Athens is rated the top hotel on tripadvisor.

We will second the reviews being given to AVA. It is on the edge of Plaka but very convenient to everything including the Acropolis and museum. Very good service and accommodating if you have questions or need information, or need to arrange taxis. We were also relieved that their A/C worked like a charm in 105 degree heat! Did not opt for the breakfast--thought it was a bit pricey. Many places nearby to have breakfast or grab something on your way.

I frequent TripAdvisor when planning a trip. We have stayed many places in Athens and the AVA is the best. It is really nice to be greeted when you arrive.Yannis was very pleasant. Our apartment room was 303 with a small balcony over the courtyard. The room was very spacious, clean and the air conditioning nice after a long day of walking. The location helps to make the price worth it. I recommend this small hotel to anyone who would like the comforts of home while travelling

We stayed here for 2 nights at a difficult time in Athens - strikes, demonstrations, unrest - and the AVA staff was very helpful. Our flight was delayed 6 hours and all of our bags were lost (arriving at 1 am with no bags is rough, but the hotel staff was great). They helped us sort things out and track down our bags (we speak zero Greek). They also helped us arrange a tour for the day with an experienced, English speaking tour guide and a nice car, that could take us to buy some clothes, etc. 2 of our bags arrived the morning we left, and the third got to us after we arrived in Santorini - AVA was very helpful in this process. Thank you!
As far as the hotel itself, I would call it "boutique". You're not going to be blown away by chandeliers in the lobby or marble floors. Not to say it isn't nice, it is. But it's not a Four Seasons type visual experience. The upsides far outweigh any lack of lobby chandeliers.
Our room (#302) was exceptional - large, clean and beautiful. It had a kitchenette, a nice sitting area, and a large deck with a stunning view of the Acropolis to the right and the Temple of Zeus to the left. All of the cool stuff in the old part of Athens (Plaka) is within minutes walking distance.

We spent three nights at the hotel in early June - staff were very friendly and helpful, the room spacious by capital city standards ; breakfast was plentiful with a good range of foods; but the main advantage is the location. The hotel is easy walking distance to Acropolis Museum, the Parthenon and nearly all of the ticketed ancient sites. The Plaka is only a short stroll away where there are a multitude of tavernas or restaurants to choose from for a meal. If you need to venture further, the metro station is only a 10 minute walk. AVA is ideal as a comfortable location to base yourself to explore the sights, and the cheerful staff will help with anything they can.

Just returned from 10 days in Greece, including 2 nights in Athens at Ava Hotel. GREAT location just blocks from Acropolis, Museum and Plaka. Pics of the room tell the whole story. Friendly staff and nicely appointed rooms with excellent Air Conditioning. Only consider Grand Bretagne if you need a swimming pool, bathtub and butler service. Otherwise, AVA Hotel is your best option.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. It is a great location close to everything you will want to see...but very quiet. It is only steps away from very good food options including the roof tops cafe's. The room was spacious and clean and staff very hepful.
