“Another Very Satisfied Athens Ava Customer”
Reviewed 10 June 2012

After the rather Spartan digs we stayed in on our cruise, we were very pleased with the large room with a kitchen located in the Plaka, only blocks from the Plaka markets where you can spend your excess time and money. It had a very comfortable bed, and a TV with more channels than the standard BBC you can get in English. Our guide dropped us off, and commented that he had heard from several of his other customers that they had a wonderful room. We wholeheartedly agree. We had not one but two bottles of chilled champagne and chocolate covered nuts waiting for us in our room thanks to an AVA promotion through Facebook and Expedia! We drank one there and the other on our patio in Santorini. Wonderful!

We stayed at the Ava for only one night at the end of a cruise, it was not nearly long enough. Great people, huge, immaculate, quiet room, with a delicious breakfast. Perfect location in the Plaka.

This is a charming hotel with a location which would be hard to beat if you're a tourist with only a short time in Athens. It's possible to walk to all the major sights, return home for a break in the heat of the day before continuing your sightseeing and dining out in one of the many restaurants close by in the evening.

It's small with only 16 rooms or suites, and ours, an executive suite Room 201 was decorated very thoughtfully and tastefully. It was equipped with everything we needed including several guides to the area and the city, very fast complimentary internet, champagne on arrival, a small balcony with glimpses of the Acropolis and Adrians Arch and excellent air conditioning. The small business centre off the lobby seemed to contain every recent guide book and DVD published about Athens.

Breakfast can be busy or quiet, depending on the time you arrive. It was very pleasant.

What also makes this small hotel very good is it's young staff who are extremely well chosen and trained and were able to meet most of our requirements. I say "most" because there was one thing they could not help us with and that was the problem of the noise from the chairs being dragged around the larger balconies of the "Exclusive" apartments above us. It marred what was a near perfect stay.

Room Tip: I would probably avoid Executive room 201 until the noise of furniture from the balconies above is a...

We had a great experience at the AVA Hotel. The location was superb, and the staff was very friendly. We were in the executive suite which had a king size bed and a pull out couch for my daughters who are 14 and 15 years old. The hotel was smartly and elegantly furnished. It is located within easy walking distance to all the major sites. There were numerous restaurants that were excellent within a 5 minute stroll. One day it was slightly raining, and the hotel supplied us with umbrellas for our walk to dinner. The chilled champaign and chocolates were a nice touch upon arrival. If I return to Athens, I would stay here again. Brian E

AVA lived up to its' TA reputation fully. The location for Acropolis-centred tourism could not be better, while the rooms and whole atmosphere provides a wonderful oasis to return to after a hard day's sight-seeing. Our apartment with a lovely garden area and orange blossom scents could not have been more comfortable. Friendly and ever-helpful staff. The excellent breakfast service and choice is a perfect match to the location. Squeeze your own fresh orange juice and coffees of all types available. We wish every city had an AVA. Athens is worth a second visit just for this hotel.

Based on tripadvisor reviews, we picked Ava over the Grand Bertagne. Ava has an awesome location and the rooms are very clean. However, if luxury is what you are you looking for - this is not the place that comes to mind. It is functional, clean and close to everything. It does need a little bit of a makeover. We stayed in by far the best room they offer, but, felt like it could be a lot better. Another tip, dont spend more than a day in Athens and you can walk everything if you are staying at the Ava or the Grand Bertagne. Spend more time in the islands vs. within the city.

Room Tip: 302...room has a great balcony

Ava was a great find and one where Trip Advisor came up trumps. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Location good, accomodation excellent with lots of attention to detail which is what makes the difference when you travel a lot.

On the doorstep to Plaka which is a cute areas with loads of great places to eat and drink and at the foot of teh acropolis.

No hesitation in recommending.

Room Tip: Our room had good space and great facilities. Hotel had the staff and personality that the large ch...
