Based on other other reviews, we were expecting more than the usual closet-size hotel room but the room (#204) at AVA Hotel far exceeded our expectations. It was so nice not to have to be falling over luggage (and each other!). A very sweet young lady, Mina, greeted us with great enthusiasm and bent over backwards to ensure that all our needs were met. The location of the hotel is wonderful -- restaurants, attractions and shopping all within a short walk. When the hotel emailed us in advance, asking if we would like for them to provide a private car service, we went back and forth on whether it would be worth the additional euros (about 15, I think). We finally decided to splurge ~ so glad we did. Yanni was terrific. His car was immaculate, not even a whiff of cigarette smoke; he provided us with cold bottles of water; and his English was far better than almost any other driver we've used. I believe he has some sort of agreement with the AVA hotel so thought it was worth mentioning in this review. Lastly, breakfast -- while not extraordinary -- was served in a nice room adjacent to the lobby by a pleasant young lady who was always ready with coffee refills. I can't image that we would ever stay anywhere else when we next visit Athens.

My Mother and I stayed in an Executive Suite at AVA Hotel Athens for a 3 day city break during September 2013. I cannot fault it and we had a wonderful stay. The location is fantastic - a short walk to most of the sites of interest. Our suite was spacious and comfortable and we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of Champagne upon arrival. Without exception the staff were genuinely friendly and couldn't do enough to be helpful. The breakfast, which we took on all 3 mornings, was comprehensive and tasty. Yes, it is expensive but this is probably justified by the location and quality of facility. Would love to return!

I stayed one night and met a really friendly staff. The room, bed and bathroom were all of very high standard. The location is truly magnificent, just a short walk from the nicest restaurants in Athens.

The location and suites are top shelf. Set within walking distance of all the main
attractions of Athens , everything including restaurants and shopping was in
easy reach. The room was spacious and comfortable.
What makes a very good hotel an excellent one is however the little things seasoned
travellers like myself expect from the number 1 hotel on TA.
The staff knew we were keen to see the Acropilous Museum but failed to tell us
that it was closed every Monday (our last day).
The staff failed to accommodate us with breakfast for an early checkout.
They knew we were leaving early because we requested a 6.30 wake up call
When we arrived for breakfast at 7am there was no one there.
Eventually a dishevelled unshaven man with his shirt hanging out appeared from
behind the front reception desk enquiring what we doing in the dining area at 7am
When we told him his reply was "you should have read the book"!
I gathered he meant the book in the room.
If that wasn't enough, when the taxi arrived both men at the front desk did
not offer to help us bring our bags down. I think they must have been totally
engrossed in their own little worlds or indifferent to the needs of their guests.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to visitors. I hope my critique serves as
a warning that it is a lot easier to reach number 1 then to stay number 1

We have been traveling for almost two weeks, in three countries. So far this has been the best hotel. The friendly staff, beautiful accommodations, fast wifi internet, delicious room service and of course very comfortable beds. This will be our home whenever we come to Athens.

Ava Hotel in Athens was our last stop after travelling through the greek islands for two weeks.
We spent 3 days in the city and loved every minute of it, thanks to the lovely staff!
They were SO friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcome and at home. The room was spacious and clean, nothing to complain about. The last evening they recommened an outdoor roof top cinema and made our last day in Athens perfect! The transfer to the airport was also great and affordable. Thank you Ava! :-)

This hotel is just perfect for a stay in Athens. The location is within walking distances to all the sites. The rooms are huge and amenities amazing. The driver they sent to pick us up from the airport was so informatiive and helpful as well. The front desk can set up tours, give you recommendations on fabulous restaurants. The breakfast was soo nice--i wish we could have stayed one more day...but i would definitely come back to this hotel. Beds were very comfortable and the little kitchinette was a nice touch. A definite must stay while in Athens and the price was reasonable as well!!!

Room Tip: we had a room in the front with a balcony and loved it
