“perfect location, warmest welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

What a great find! The hotel is in a perfect location with easy walking distances to major sights -even on really hot days. The staff were always happy to chat and offer advice on what to see and to confirm onward travel details-the recommendation of a tiny Taverna in the alleys of Plaka for a dinner resulted in one of the best meals of my entire trip!
This hotel is not a flashy, consumer hotel- admittedly the breakfast buffet is small but so is the hotel and that is the charm of the place. For me, what it lacked in big hotel amenities it MORE than made up for in personal touches (like a lovely bottle of wine as a welcome gift), and a sincerley warm welcome from everyone I met.
The room was beautifully clean and comfortable and the little balcony was super to stand and watch the world go by....
Many thanks to Maria and the team for a great stay- it was far too short but I will absolutely be coming back for a return visit!

Perfect location in the heart of Plaka. It is a small hotel with 15 suites. We were upgrated by the hotel with no charge, to a biggest suite at the highest floor with a great balcony and view of the Acropolis. The attitude from the staff of the hotel was great. A bottle of champaigne was waiting for us in the suite. The suite was very comfortable and nice. From the hotel you can visit most of the attractions of Athens by foot. The price is a bit expensive, but for an excellent hotel in a capital city in Europe it is O.K.
The only comment is, that the braekfast could be more rich.
If we'll visit Athens again we'll sure choose this hotel .

Room Tip: Ask for high floor with view.

I stayed in AVA for 3 nights as my honeymoon and the hotel exceeded my expectation. Actually I visited Athens twice during my honeymoon in Greece and I intentionally booked two different hotel on each visit for comparison, while AVA was better among the same level of hotels.

I booked a suite in AVA. The room is spacious and clean, well decorated. Staff is kind and helpful. Breakfast is good, calm and relax like home. The location of the hotel cannot be beaten. It's just walking distance to the Arcopolis and other famous attractions.

Below is the summary of Pro and Cons of AVA.

Pro:
1. Location is perfect. The alley is just opposite to the Arch of Hadrian, Temple of Zeus. Walking distance to Arcoplis, museum, agora and etc. Also it's close to subway station that one can access National Museum and City Hall.
2. Clean and spacious room. Well decorated. Complimentary champagne for my honeymoon from hotel.
3. Nice breakfast, relax just like home.
4. Helpful and kind staff who gave me useful suggestions and recommendations.
5. Laundry is relatively cheaper than other hotels in the same level. I stayed 26 hotels in Greece during my honeymoon in 30 days, and paid attention to the laundry price of each hotel. AVA is the cheapest.

Cons:
1. Parking is not convenient if you are not used to narrow streets.

Tips:
1. Do rent a small car if you decide to drive in the old town.
2. There is a street with a lot of restaurants nearby the hotel with 5 mins walk. I ate there twice. The food was delicious. Ask the hotel staff and they can recommend.
3. Check the opening hour of Temple of Zeus. I missed it.
4. Wear comfortable shoes when visit National Museum.

We had a standard suite. Tiny balcony with view of wall and houses opposite. Had a small kitchen area including hob and a large fridge, also had a minibar in a separate fridge. Is this what makes a room a suite - it is really just a good size room. No sofa but 2 chairs and a table. Good size room - but suite?? Good Wifi which was free. Staff very good. Lift tiny. Comfy bed. Overall I thought a bit over priced but the location is perfect for the major sites. I have not seen the other hotels but this does have quality but not sure about value for money. No street noise.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, early this month. We chose the hotel based on previous reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed with the location. The location in Plaka is perfect to view the monuments and explore Plaka and neighbouring areas and to make multiple trips to Acropolis and museum.
However, the first thing that strikes you upon entering the room is that there are no views of Acropolis or any other monument from the room- you only see the private dwellings behind the hotel or the street. To this extent, the hotel claims are exaggerated. The elevator is very small and can take only two persons at a time.
It is a small family run hotel and one should not expect too much by way of ameneties; the room however was comfortable and the small kitchnette in the corner is a bonus; however there are numerous eating options nearby and you probably will use only tea/coffee maker.
The breakfast is averege and not sumptuous.
The hotel is clean and the stay was pleasant. The staff at front desk was helpful. when you choose this hotel, you should be clear that you are doing this because of location and should have limited expectations of amenities etc.
The room rates (almost 200 euro per night with b/f at the minimum) appear to be excessive for the facilities provided. You can probably get a 5 star hotel at lesser rates a little distance away.

Room Tip: Not much choice- there is no street level noise.

As this boutique hotel had been rated no. 1 on Trip Advisor, we decided to spend a little more than our budget had allowed, on the last night of our 3 week holiday in Europe before flying home to Australia. Upon arrival, we chose to upgrade at a very reasonable price to a family suite room complete with balcony. When on the balcony, there were views to the left of Hadrian's Arch and to the right of the Acropolis. The location was fabulous. We could walk everywhere - the Acropolis, the metro station (to take us to the airport), Hadrian's Arch, the Old Town etc. Some great restaurants, cafes and takeaway food shops were nearby.
Reception was always friendly, helpful and obliging.

Room Tip: The suites or family rooms offer balconies with views across to Hadrian's Arch and the Acropolis...

We booked this hotel based on it being the no.1 hotel in Athens, so we had our expectations set high, and we're therefore disappointed. The location is great and since we were only staying one night, it was very convenient. But the hotel promises views of the acropolis which is probably only the case from the roof; our room was overlooking the wall of the next door building, and the room itself is very average, an ok bathroom with a small shower. I would imagine that there are better hotels deserving of the #1 spot in Athens.
