We stayed here for 2 days prior to joining a group on a cruise ship. The staff is very helpful, the location can't be beat and the room, a suite really, was huge by even American standards. You can get a less expensive room in Athens but this wasn't off the charts and was worth every penny. We'd return in a heartbeat!

I was in Athens for the first time in my life last week for a few business meetings. The location was perfect, the rooms were very spacious, the breakfast was delicious, and the price point was quite reasonable. They decor of the room is really nice, especially the blue tile in the bathrooms and the ambience lighting on the ceiling. The only quirk of the room was that for the life of me I could not figure out how to turn off the lights above the desk area. I ended up having to pull my room key out of the front door area and shut off all the power to the room. Because of this my cell phone didn't have the chance to charge overnight, which was a pain to deal with the next day. But oh well, I probably just overlooked the switch. Service was also very, very good. The people at the front desk were all especially accommodating, particularly the brunette woman with the short bangs. It is easy to understand why this hotel gets such high marks - besides the light issue, it is impossible to find fault with any aspect of the stay.

This small boutique hotel is in a fantastic location in Plaka, only a few minutes walk from most of the historic attractions and less than that for restaurants & bars.

The staff were fantastic, exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and are equipped with small kitchenettes including a decent sized fridge.

Note that the hotel does not have a conventional restaurant so the only meal they provide is breakfast. Additionally they do not have a bar. However, being so close to a great range of bars and restaurants this is no bad thing as it means you can try some of the good but inexpensive restaurants within easy walking distance.

Heartily recommended.

I had the best sleep ever in a hotel and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The location is perfect and the suite was spacious and well designed. The only thing I missed was a bath tub but the bathroom and shower were fine. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Room Tip: The Acropolis view suites are best.

We stayed in the Ava Hotel for a week in November having previously stayed there 7 years ago. On checking in we were welcomed back as returning guests and presented with a complementary bottle of champagne, and that set the tone for a wonderful week. Our studio apartment was comfortable and spotless. Every member of staff was friendly and professional and the breakfasts were superb. The location of the hotel was excellent, right in the heart of the Plaka, yet it was quite at night. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

First of all, let's establish one thing: a hotel, no matter how many stars it has, is basically a place to sleep and bathe. Add to that other components, besides the quality of the bed and the bath it provides, the number of stars will rise. That said, let's focus on Ava Hotel. The location is unbeatable. Plaka is the place to be if you come to visit Athens. I cannot imagine someone coming to Athens and not wanting to visit the Acropolis, so, the hotel is right by its feet. The staff is very helpful and corteous. They greeted us with a bottle of sparkling wine on our arrival and all of them are always with a gentle smile for the guests. Now the room... Even though it has a good size, and the decor is ok, the two main things it should provide with excellency (bed + shower) fall short. The bed, although it's a queen size, is not very comfy, and the pillows are hard. I asked them to be changed - and they were - but even the new ones weren't very nice. This is a personal opinion, some people may like hard mattresses and hard pillows, but I didn't have a good sleep because of that. And the shower... Oh, my God.... unless you measure less than 1,60m (5.2ft) you won't fit the stall. It is a tiny (I mean ridiculously small) shower stall. Bathing for me is a pleasure, but in that shoe box it was a necessity, only to keep up the good hygiene habit. I feel a little sad about this review, because the staff and the location could make the hotel earn the 4th star, but the bed and the shower dragged it down for me.

We really enjoyed our stay at the AVA hotel. It has an excellent location in Plaka walking distance to the Acropolis , the Acropolis museum, the Temple of Jupiter, Hadrian's Arch, restaurants and shops.
The staff at the reception and the breakfast were amazingly helpful, friendly and accommodating. For example at the first breakfast we were asked to complete a questionnaire and make suggestions if there was anything we would like to have that was not on offer that day. The next morning we were most pleasantly surprised that what we had asked for was made available i.e. apple juice and pancakes in addition to all the other great choices. As well we had the impression that the staff really did care that we enjoyed our selves and were satisfied. It wasn't that they were just humouring us or pretending to care. We stayed for 3 nights and wished that we had more time. The adult queen bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in and the bedroom very tastefully decorated. Our suite fitted our family of 4 well with the children in the separate lounge room on separate sofa beds. Overall highly recommended.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our suite on the third floor with a large balcony terrace
