In September our son treated my husband and me to an aniversary trip to Greece, my dream destination, and the Amalfi coast in Italy. The three of us were just delighted with AVA Hotel, our first stop. We stayed in their newly remodeled executive suite and were treated as if we were celebrities. Handsome George at the desk greeted us enthusiastically and recommended a lovely place for dinner. When we returned we were surprised to find a complimentary bottle of champagne!
The room was lovely to look at - chandeliers and fine linens -- and comfortable and spacious for all of us. LIttle touches, such as the trompe l'oeil ceiling in the bathroom, potted plants on the balcony and well-stocked kitchenette made this a truly memorable beginning to our trip.
George and Stavros at the desk could not have been more helpful.
The hotel is beautifully situated in the Plaka close to the Acropolis with stunning views.

Stayed there for 2 nights after a med cruise. Selected with reference to trip advisor previous reports. we paid 175 euros per night with no breakfast. We were upgraded to a larger apartment ( massive) so the standard apartment would be still large. fully equiped with all you required to be self sufficient if you wanted. Bottle of champagne on ice delivered just after we arrived. Really good local directory in room with lots of info on where to eat, visit etc ( obviously written by someone who wants to impart some local knowledge).hotel has its own little map printed . Free museum tickets( only one euro each real cost) but nice touch. Max 5miins walk to all main attractions. 100metres to start of the Plaka area. Loads of reasonable price restaurants close. Great places for breakfast close by so no need to pay 10 euros each at hotel. Also hop on hop off tour bus from almost outside hotel. 35 euros fixed price to airport. We paid only 20 euros from cruise port. Friends agreed 25 euro fixed price which is Ok to. 11 am sundays is special changing of the guard display at the palace only 5mins walk or less from hotel. Other wise the guard changes every hour. Not cheap but seemed about the going rate for the convinience of where it was. It is in a small side street but very quiet. Taxis have to take a bit of a detour around to get in and out of the street as there is a one way system and tram tracks they cant cross so dont be concerned if it seems you are going round in circles. All in all Athens was way above our expectations. People were all pleasant and helpful ( including taxi drivers) they will try and talk you into tours but not in any agressive way. Did not feel any way a threatening enviroment.

We were pleased to discover that the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, which had prompted us to make a reservation at this hotel, were absolutely correct. The location at the edge of The Plaka was outstanding with a partial view of the Acropolis, we had a "suite" with a separate living room and kitchenette, the bedroom and bathroom were nice sized, and the place was immaculate. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room with a small balcony overlooked a quiet side street, so street noise was not an issue. Free internet service at a computer off the lobby was a big plus. A friendly front desk person gave us fresh grounds for the coffee maker in our room so we wouldn't have to use the packaged stuff. Actually, the place was nicer looking than on their web site, which made it look very plain. An excellent choice.

After our cruise, my husband and I stayed here for one night. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from the young woman at the front desk. She helped us figure out where to go eat which was also an excellent choice. The room was cozy with a very comfortable, clean bed. We were able to open the windows at night and it was completely quiet outside. The location is perfect and we look forward to visiting Athens and the AVA Hotel again in the future.

Following the advice of Tripadvisor, we booked a junior suite at the AVA Hotel in the Plaka area of Athens and could not have been more pleased. Staff was friendly and very helpful, and our suite was the best--traditional with high ceilings, step out balcony with a view of the Akropolis, and wood furnishings, but state of the art in the bathroom (larger than some hotel rooms we have stayed in) and the small(but perfectly outfitted) kitchenette. On arrival there was a chilled bottle of champagne and fruit waiting for us which we did not expect. Location could not have been better with the new Akropolis Museum less than a 10 minute walk away, tons of restaurants nearby, and easy shopping. We did not have the breakfast as we preferred to eat in the Plaka area. We had one lovely dinner at the Daphne Restaurant across the street and enjoyed it very much.
