We stayed at the Central Hotel for a total of 5 nights! The hotel is small but centrally located near Plaka and Syntagma Square. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooftop garden has amazing views of the Acrópolis and the city. The rooms are small but they were clean. The bathroom sink is too small so you end up wetting the floor when you wash your face or brush your teeth. The elevator is very small it only accommodates 3 people. But overall the hotel is perfect due to its location, friendly staff, breakfast is included, and the rooftop garden is a plus for the great views! I would recommend this hotel since its close to Plaka, restaurants and sightseeing!

Thank you very much for your review on our hotel. It is nice to have customers who appreciate our efforts on quality services -although building restrictions give us limited options on the elevator and bathrooms - and recommend our hotel. We look forward to see you back soon.

This hotel is centrally located right in between the Monastriaki and Syntagma metro stops. It would take around 5 to 10 minutes to walk to the Metros. I booked a room with the Acropolis view. The room is relatively very small in size and the bathroom is probably the smallest I've ever used. Room amenities are very limited. The premium paid for Acropolis view also wasn't worth it, as you would have to lean and stick your neck out to see the view on your far right. You would be better off booking one with the street view. Breakfast was good on the Mezzanine floor with variety.

Overall, a probably decent hotel for Athens standards.

PS: In Athens all attractions are centrally located around Athens, which you can walk if you can (30 minutes in between) or take metro or hop on bus or miniature train like transport that runs on road.

Room Tip: Acropolis view is not that great due to the posture of the room. (any room)

Thank you for your review on our hotel. We are very well located so as to be able to visit all attractions like the Acropolis, the National Garden, Plaka, Monastiraki on foot and have a nice walk in the city centre. Our customers usually enjoy their rooms with the Acropolis view although there is always the choice to admire the “holly” rock from our roof top bar along with a coffee or cocktail. We hope that you will be back in Athens and our hotel soon.

The Central Athens (listed here as Central Hotel Athens, but is actually known as Central Athens to taxi drivers!) is great little hotel with an awesome rooftop cafe with view of the Acropolis and jacuzzi. Be warned tho, the jacuzzi only has cold water, no heating.

Pros: The location is on a small and cozy alleyway nearby to restaurants, shopping areas and the flea market. The subway/metro is also very close by. Great terrace/balcony overlooking the street, great for people-watching and watching drunken partiers in the late am LOL. The desk staff are very nice, always smiling and seem to go out of their way to be accommodating. Some of the nicest I've ever met. Breakfast is typically at 7am, but since our departure was at 5:30am, they actually served it (slightly abbreviated) at 5 instead (we were not the only ones actually). Taxi was waiting when we came downstairs thanks to arrangements made by the desk.

Cons: The bed is in 2 parts, like twin beds stuck together. Not exactly a queen bed, or at least like the ones I'm used to. Could be a European thing? The room is very small, but this is billed as a business hotel so no reason to complain about that. Shower, no bath, tiny sink. Wifi spotty and drops almost constantly, seems to be this way all over Greece since this happened at Santorini and Mykonos as well. The elevator has a max load of 3 people. Very small - so if you want to go from the 2nd floor to the roof garden, it's faster to take stairs down to ground floor, get on elevator line with new arrivals and take it to roof garden.

Bottom line - despite the small rooms, still would come back here without a second thought.

Room Tip: Get a room on a lower floor so you don't have to deal with small elevator. Or alternatively, get one near the top, so you can easily access the roofgarden/cafe!

Our room was small but modern and clean. We had a view of the Acropolis from our room and we were 10 minutes from Syntagma Square and the Hop On Hop Off Bus Service. We enjoyed the roof top bar and watched the sun set on the Acropolis at night. Breakfast was included and we loved the cappuccino! Space in our room was limited but we were only there to sleep and shower. The reception desk provided information, maps and directions in a friendly, helpful manner. They helped us with Internet connections whenever we needed them. Our room was probably too far from the router but they did help us get on line. This is a great little hotel in the Plaka area, within walking distance of Syntagma Square and restaurants, shops, and even the flea market are close by. We enjoyed our stay.

The Central Hotel, located next door to the Hermes on Apollonos St, is 5 blocks from Syntagma Square and walking distance to the Acropolis and other historic sites in Plaka. We made reservations in both hotels and decided on the Central based on the clean modern lines of its public spaces and the availability of a large triple room. We are a family of three adults and reserved a triple room before and after our marvelous HAL cruise of Greece and Turkey. We had room 509 for both nights and were very pleased with the spaciousness of the room (~325sf), especially by European standards. The only caution is that the sofabed opens to a short wide bed that is appropriate for persons 5'6" or shorter. Our adult daughter found the sofabed quite comfortable. The A/C in the room was quiet and effective.
We found a vegan restaurant around the corner from the Central Hotel, the Avocado on Nikis St, which we enjoyed immensely even though we are not vegetarians.
We used the express bus X95 to and from the Athens International Airport; the bus stop is on the south side of Syntagma Square up the hill on Othonos St. The bus fare is 5 euros pp (half price for seniors over 65). We used a taxi between the Central Hotel and Cruise Terminal 1 in Piraeus (20 euros each way). Both of these transfers worked effectively for us and were timely.

Room Tip: The triple room we had (#509) is large (~325sf). The sofa bed is short and suitable for someone 5'6" or shorter. The A/C in the room was quiet and effective.
