“nice place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014

Good location, easy accessible from the airport and close to the major attractions. The room was remodeled, clean, modern and with a large balcony to the street. I did not have breakfast so, no comments. The staff was nice.
Outstanding roof bar with an astonishing view of the Acropolis. Don't miss it!

Room Tip: try to book with the Acropolis view. The upper rooms are most likely the ones..

This lovely, clean modern hotel is in a quiet street close to the Acropolis. Restaurants are nearby and it is a 5 mins walk to Syntagma Square via Ermou. The reception staff were helpful, friendly and spoke good English. The room was a reasonable size with a flat screen TV and Wifi. However our room was quite dark, so it is best to get one with a view of the Acropolis. Watching the sun go down over the Acropolis at night from the roof-top terrace, is an experience of a life-time.
A word of caution about Athens though. We always felt safe walking near this hotel and at the Acropolis. However near Hadrian's Arch (one of the tourist sites) I had my purse stolen from my handbag by a pickpocket.

Thank you very much for your review on Central Athens Hotel. We are conveniently located in the city centre, close to the Acropolis, Monastiraki and Plaka. The view from Thea Terrace Bar to Parthenon is unique and this should be a great motive to bring you back in Athens soon.

This hotel is clean and good value for money.
The staff are friendy and the hotel bar has a lovely view of the Acropolis.
The hotel is within walking distance of all the main Athens attractions and a large selection of restaurants.

At first site this hotel doesn't seem to be different to many others. Ok, it's right in the heart of the city, the prices are ok, the rooms also (but the baths are tiny!), the staff is extremely nice and helpful, breakfast is about normal, although you will find more or less everything you can expect.
But than you go to the 7th floor where the bar is located and : WOW, there it is, the Acropolis right in front of you, and especially at night it is an incredible sight!
There is a big negative point, though: the bar closes for whatever reason at midnight, which is far too early especially on a warm evening!!

Stayed here for one night at the end of our holiday in southern Greece. The hotel is very well located, on a quiet street in the central area of Plaka, close to Syntagma Square and the Acropolis. Our second floor room at the rear of the hotel was simply but comfortably furnished and had an oblique view of the Acropolis. The bathroom was functional but a bit of a squeeze. Basic toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, bar of soap and a shower cap) were provided. The rooftop bar and jacuzzi are the hotel's best asset, drinks prices were €6 for rum and coke and €9 for a cosmopolitan. The hotel's staff were helpful and efficient, they booked a taxi to take us to the airport to catch our early flight and it arrived promptly. Breakfast is served 7am-10am but unfortunately we had to leave too early to sample it. Overall I would recommend this hotel as a good base for 1-2 night stays from which to explore Athens.

Everything is in walking distance in central Athens. The perfect location on a quiet narrow street. The rooftop terrace has a view of the Acropolis day and night that is beyond fabulous. The menu is minimal more in the realm of drinks and snack than meals, but there is an abundance of places of all price ranges to eat at within the immediate vicinity.

Front desk was helpful and everyone there spoke English. Rooms were clean.

Wi-Fi is free but was inconsistent for both me and my wife. Bad news when you are in the middle of Skype call into a critical meeting and Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting. For regular email and such it is up 90%+ of the time.

This would be 5 stars in terms of total experience for a very reasonable price compared to some of the fancier hotels close by, but the cramped room and inconsistent Wi-Fi takes me down to 4 stars. It would be fine size wise for one person.

Shower was a dribbler but we were on the 6th floor and Athens plumbing is old.

Breakfast is complementary and OK. Pastry, scrambled eggs, cereal and apples and oranges. No one seemed to mind that I took and orange with me when I left each morning. Small refrigerator if you want to buy a few things.

We asked for a quiet room so we were on the top floor -6th and edge so noise form neighbors was very minimal and I travel with a white sound machine so no sleep disturbance.

This was business for 3 days for my wife and fun for another three days for both of us.

Room Tip: Rooms are all very small. I do mean small as is space for soring clothes. l. Ask for a front room...

Thank you very much for your review on Central Athens Hotel. We are located in a very convenient point in the city centre so all major attractions are within walking distance. Building restrictions do not give us a lot of choices although our rooms are of an average size for a European city. Wifi signal is strong but maybe you were here on a full, busy day when wifi speed is slower. We hope that you will be back soon to enjoy the view to Acropolis from Thea Terrace Bar.
