Super-affordable place to stay in Athens- the two of us (Americans, a guy and a girl) split a double room with twin beds for approximately $50 a night. Definitely a you-get-what-you-pay-for situation; budget rooms that were a perfectly serviceable place to sleep, but no-frills.

One note: located in a slightly sketchy part of Omonia (prostitutes working nearby corners); we didn't have any problems, but if you are traveling alone, especially if you are a woman or plan to be out late at night this may not be for you.

I stayed in this hotel with my boyfriend just few nights and I think it is overpriced. Staff was very friendly and helpful but rooms were very small, curtains in shower were too short and bathroom after shower was flooded. Rooms were also stinking (especially bathroom) and breakfast was very very poor. Roofbar was really nice.

The hotel is located in close proximity to the national museum of Athens and also near the metro station of Omonia. We stayed in a room with three beds, which was relatively luxurious, of course air conditioned and had a relatively large balcony with view of the surrounding streets. Both, the room itself, and the included bathroom were very clean and in an excellent shape. The hotel service was wonderful - always ready to answer our questions about the city of Athens. Also we were served fresh toast every morning for breakfast.
Overall a very nice hotel.

The Moka is a pleasant, adequate hotel located near Omonia. Whilst Omonia is not the greatest of areas (every night that we were there, there were 5-10 prostitutes in groups on the main road leading north of the station) it doesn't feel particularly threatening. The rooms in the hotel are very clean and comfortable, albeit a tad on the small side. The bathrooms are large (although the shower a bit small), and the maid replenished all of the complementary toiletries every day. Our room came with a fridge but no safe (as reported in other reviews - it may depend on which room you get). Breakfast is nice (bread, butter, jam, cake and a toasted sandwich and toasted croissant, juice, coffee) and there is a pleasant roof garden where you can get drinks. The hotel staff are nice and there are plenty of supermarkets nearby.
Overall the Moka is a nice hotel, with no extra frills, and I would recommend it to young couples and small-sized families/groups.

Have just stayed for 2 nights at the Moka Hotel. It was just like most of the previous reviews on TA: friendly staff and a bit noisy as my room was facing the main road. Not an issue because we'd get back really tired and it was not a problem to sleep.
Breakfast: basic but good.
Location: No more than 10 minutes walking to Omonia train/metro station. From there it's only 2 stops to Akropoli. Only EU$ 1.40 the ticket.
I had only 1 problem: have asked NOT to go in my room to clean it and change sheets, but they have done it anyway. By doing that the cleaning lady put my shoes at the window and the airconditioning above was dripping heaps of water in them during the entire day! She should've known better. I then had to use the hair drier to (try) dry it.
Despite this problem I do recommend the hotel!

The hotel itself was really clean and the room was big. The guy at the reception knew a lot about the ferries and which company to go with which was good for us as we were island hopping! However the hotel is in the middle of the red light district and on the way to catch the ferry at 6AM we passed some prostitutes beating up a customer!! So although the hotel isnt in a great area you cannot fault the staff and the value for money you are getting.

Great hotel in a shady area. This hotel is close locate to the Omnion station and was a nice place. Our room had a fridge, Air condition, and Tv and a balcony. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We only stayed one night though. The area was a bit shady at night, but not anything that was dangerous. The Wifi was fast.
