“You can do better”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

I stayed here to get out of Athens for a few days (booked 5, stayed 4 days in total) to be near the sea to swim. The location is only about 20mins away from the airport with KTEL buses running regularly (contact hotel to get details) or you can catch a cab (be aware the flag rate goes into double as you are leaving the metro area). Cabs/Taxis in the area are not readily available & the hotel car service is not cheap. The rating for this hotel is 3 stars & it cost me €50 per night incl.breakfast & free WI-FI in your room . My stay was OK, I was disappointed mostly because the photos on the website DID NOT match my room in reality. The standard was low compared to other 3star hotels in greece. There were broken lamps & accessories in my room, light globes missing, the bed was old & rather quite hard, the shower was TINY and the shower curtain had pink mold (Fusarium). The room & bathroom was clean, the service was good, it has air conditioning and views. However the breakfast was very basic - bread, ham/turkey slices, cheese, tomato, feta, canned peaches, yogurt, jam/honey, biscuits, marble cake, weird cornflakes, tea & coffee and scrambled eggs on occasion - check with hotel when booking. The hotel menu was expensive and not authentic.I wouldn't recommend ordering from them even though they regularly cater & host weddings. 2 scoops of poor quality icecream cost my friend €6 which I did not encounter anywhere else.Pathetic!
FOOD in the area is DISMAL, avoid the taverna across the road it is DISGUSTING. Your better off going to Cavo down the road (10min stroll) open morning till late at night, but they have a limited menu. The seafood Taverna next door to Cavo was good & the Pizza 1 on the corner close to the hotel offered well cooked greek food (lathera - dishes prepared in oive oil). The oven cooked lemon chicken & potatoes & makaronia & kima (spag. bolognese) was good as were the vegetable dishes. There is a convenience store within walking distance which stocks alcohol, cigarettes, some basic food, snacks etc open until 9pm.
The hotel has a pool, has steps leading down to a beach (the beach has sand, pebbles & rocks but is definitely swimmable). There's a childrens park & basketball courts on the harbour within close walking distance.
The hotel hosted a wedding whilst I stayed there, so ask if one is booked for the dates you stay & get a room on the side of the hotel (not facing the back deck or pool area).
The hotel looks like it has tried to do some renovations to the rooms, but they really should have completed the job to a slightly higher standard & the bed was a disappointment compared to other 3star hotels that have completed renovations. The bed was hard & a bit lumpy after the first night. I'd recommend you take the ferry from Rafina to KARYSTOS on the island of Evia and go stay there! If you have some time up your sleeve, That, is definitely an 2hr trip door to door that is WORTH IT!

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here ask them if they have installed any new bed mattresses & request a ro...

We stayed here for one night before flying home, as it's near Athens airport. It wasn't as good as it looked on the website. We stayed in much better hotels in Greece for the same price as this hotel. The bathroom was poor, with cracked grouting and a dead mosquito! Only one window has a fly screen, so we had to keep the other window and balcony doors closed and keep the air conditioning on all night. There is a small pool (the reason we chose this hotel). The pool was fine but the weather was overcast so we only had a quick dip. The beach nearby wasn't very nice. The surrounding area isn't very attractive either. If doing a similar journey again, I would stay the night in Athens.

Because of scheduling issues, we had a transit night in Athens, and rather than stay in the city, headed east from the airport to Marathon. Same cab fare as the ride to town, but instead of grey buildings and rush we got a fabulous view, a quiet, spacious room and a good breakfast for a very good price (about $US80).
At this time (June) there were few other guests and we got a perfect seafront corner room on the top floor, which gave us a 180 degree panorama of the Aegean.
Excellent pool was popular with airline crew, comfortable bar, lovely terrace overlooking the sea and the marina. Quite a few local restaurants to choose from.
Buffet breakfast was reasonable and the staff were very helpful.
Great alternative if you don't want to deal with Athens, and an easy trip back to the airport for the next flight.

Room Tip: Upper floors. Ocean side.

We stayed here for 1 night prior to catching the boat from Rafina port, which is only 10 mins. Nea Makri is a tiny little village with a amazing bar called Cavos, with stunning views and very cool. Good for an overnight, wouldn't suggest staying any longer, as there isn't much to do.

We stayed here for 4 days-the staff are excellent. The location is not convenient and transport-either a car or taxi, is required. the hotel is very quiet and breakfasts are good. the location has a wonderful view of the sea and islands. there are no shops nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room with direct views of the coast and islands

The best part of this hotel is the positive service oriented attitude of staff/owners. We arrived very late approximately 11pm and were welcomed with much gusto.
We were hungry and asked if there was any chance of getting something to eat at that late hour. Not a problem at all! :) Amazing attitude, we were immediately taken through to the restaurant and had a delicious (and cheap) meal, served by the owner herself I think.
Tummies full, we had a good night's sleep and left in the morning with transport arranged by the hotel.
The breakfast is simple but adequate. The hotel prices are good.
The hotel is a distance from the airport. Approximately €45. Cheaper transport is organised from the hotel when leaving, just ask.
The welcome - can not be beat.
We would stay here again, it is value for money.
