“Great location and hotel - a hidden gem!”
Reviewed 7 November 2012

We stayed at O&B for a total of 5 nights in October. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and they even upgraded us twice during our stay! Stayed in the superior room and junior suite with the Acropolis view and balcony. Rooms were spacious, clean and modern. Excellent central location and is within walking distance to all major attractions, flea market, shopping and restaurants. Additionally, located close to metro and bus links if required (only a couple of minutes walk away!). Buffet breakfast was good and staff always accommodated requests. Hotel reception staff gave out maps, kindly allowed us to borrow their Lonely Planet guide and showed us tour options. Would definitely recommend this hotel for location, helpful staff and quality of the accommodation. Definitely will be recommending this hotel to others and will return here myself! Thanks again to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and helping us see Athens in the limited time we had!

We stayed at Ocher and Brown during our summer vacations to Greece.
We loved every moment there, from our arrival to our depart we were treated like kings and queens.
Staff is making superb job, rooms are immaculate clean and breakfast superb.
Athens is an amazing city. First impression may be negative with all these graffiti at the streets and some run down buildings but overall is a city with so many things to see and enjoy. Great restaurants, welcoming people and amazing monuments.
I will return to Athens and this hotel will be my first choice.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, 1 night either side of our Santorini island visit. The staff were very warm, welcoming and helpful. Our room was lovely we had a great view of the Parthenon and were lucky enough to be upgraded to an even bigger suite on our return. Maralana who works in the restaurant and welcomes you when you walk into the hotel is just such a nice friendly person and makes you feel as though nothing is too much trouble. The area the hotel is in a working class area and everyone was very friendly, just at the end of the street and across the road are great tavernas, restaurants and shopping with the Acropolis only 15 minutes walk even though it looks so far away. Would defiantly return.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the Acropolis.

We stayed in O&B hotel for 3 nights. During our stay we felt that we were exceptionally looked after - on our very first visit. Both hotel and restaurant staff could not be more accommodating, nothing was a problem.
Hotel is located in a very conveniently, easy access to most tourist attractions.
We also had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was great,
Highly recommend this place and hope to stay there in the future.
We were very happy with our find.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights at the end of October 2012 and had a wonderful stay. Staff could not have been more helpful, they gave excellent service and advice. They were very friendly and courteous and were more than willing to answer any questions. Our room was well furnished, clean and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was excellent. This modern hotel is situated in the old part of Athens and the street is rather run down and rough looking but it is excellently situated for all the major tourist attractions and is within walking distance to a wide range of excellent restaurants and shops. An ideal place to stay.

These days Athens is in the news a lot because of the economic problems and the strikes against the austerity measures. In preparation for our trip we not only looked at the the weather forecast but also at the strike forecast. We found two sites very helpful: http://www.xpatathens.com/news/22183 and http://livingingreece.gr/strikes .

Atlhough we heard about some riots on the streets in the week before we went, we decided to go because in our experience this is often very local. This proved to be right: we loved Athens, especially Psiri, the neighbourhood the O&B is in. There were some streets with a lot of terraces with a very good vibe because of the students and creatives that were there. On the other hand we talked with people and we find out there is a lot of uncertainty about what the future is bringing.

On our way from the airport, we took a cab. It is a EUR 35 fixed fee, no extra's for luggage or tolls. It took us about 30 minutes to get to the hotel. On our way to the airport we took the subway. The subway to the airport is leaving Monastraki station every half an hour (03 and 33 if I remember correct) and costs EUR 8/1 person, EUR 14/2 persons and EUR 20/3 persons. The Monastraki station is about 400 meters from the hotel. Ask for directions if you come from the airport by subway. The Thission station is about 100 metres from the hotel but it means you have to change trains.

We got a warm welcome at the hotel from the reception. Check in was smooth and friendly. Service at the hotel is very friendly: we got excellent advice on what to visit and how to get there.

We had an Acropolis Executive Suite, which was modern, large enough for the three of us, very comfortable and clean. Best feature was the beautful view of the Acropolis from the two terraces and the bathroom!

Breakfast was nice, enough variety, fresh orange juice and omelettes etc are made to order. On our first day we got eggs which were really salty, so ask for less salt if you don't want that like we did. On our second breakfast, the waittress already knew what we wanted and brought us these items without asking, a nice touch which is a sign of the level of service they provide at O&B.

Getting to the sites is easy: at the Thession station 100 metres from the hotel a big footpath starts that goes all around the Akropolis (a must see) and also lead to the New Acropolis Museum (beautiful museum). To get back to the hotel walk through the small streets of Plaka. With your Akropolis ticket you can also visit the temple of Hepheastus site and some other places which are on the way back.

A little further away is the Panathinaikos stadium, an old stadium which was renovated for the first Olympic games in 1896. We recommend to take the audiotour in the stadium and walk around this historical venue. Also go inside the big tunnel towards the old dressing rooms. They store the torches that were used to carry the Olympic fire in numerous games, which we found very interesting.

At night we loved to walk around Psiri and Monastiraki (the square is nice with great evening views of the Akropolis). There are some good restaurants at Adrianou street only 200 metres of the hotel which are less touristy (and expensive) than the ones found in Plaka. It is not a rich neighbourhood but we didn't have any safety concerns.

Although we didn't know what to expect in Athens these days, we were pleasantly surprised. The O&B is a beautiful hotel, with wonderful service in an excellent location: it is Athens at its best!

I loved this hotel. I stayed with a friend in March 2012 and truly enjoyed my stay. It was comfortable, clean, excellent view, top class service and friendly staff.

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel and hope to stay there again.

It was my birthday the first morning I was there - my friend had already told them it was when the room was booked but they didn't know when we arrived. I got a beautiful (and delicious) cake with breakfast that morning.

The staff were nothing but helpful and answered all our questions, including telling us the areas that we shouldn't go. I wanted to go to Aigina on my last day there, they printed me out the timetables promptly. Excellent hotel, excellent service and staff, a perfect stay.
