“Great Experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2009

Wonderful staff and very nice boutique hotel that is located within walking distance to the Plaka and Acropolis and Nat'l Museum. Breakfast was part of our rate and included cereal, rolls, fruit, greek yogurt, and greek coffee. All very tasty! The room was very comfortable, clean, and met all of our needs. Definitely recommend this hotel. Great way to start our Greek vacation.

My wife and I absolutely loved this place. The rooms were great and the staff is so friendly. They gave us great advice on where to eat. The location of the hotel is ideal, the purpose of our trip was to see all the historical sites in Athens and we did this without renting a car, just walking from the hotel. The "American Breakfast" was out of this world, it should be called the "Better than American Breakfast". This hotel was great I highly recommend it!!

I have recently stayed at O&B with a friend and was very pleasantly surprised. From the reviews here I knew this hotel would be good, but still it has surpassed my expectations. The rooms are very modern, luxurious and clean.
Some of the highlights:
The staff: I can’t overstate how friendly and helpful everyone was. They anticipated our preferences (like bed in breakfast), have shown great professionalism and have contributed in making our stay there great. We were also allowed a late check-out.
The breakfast: Has to be tried to be believed!
The shower: It’s a “walk-in” sort of wet area, with plenty of room for play! Very impressive!
Free wi-fi: Might appear insignificant, but it shows that the hotel owners are not placing profit maximisation on top of a quality stay. In all honesty, all hotels of such high class should have this as standard.
One thing to be aware:
Not many common areas, it’s a small hotel after all. So if you fancy spending a lot of time in the common facilities of a hotel during your holidays, then this might not be it.
All in all, thank you O&B, we will be back soon!

We spend 3 nights at the O&B in March of this year, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I considered a number of hotels in the center of Athens, and chose the O&B as we like small boutique hotels with 5-star service, without the traditional 5-star decor and attitude.

The room, a deluxe double on the 2nd floor with a small balcony, was just as nice as on the photos: not large, but with a good bed, satelite tv and a dvd-player, free wifi, and best of all a good size bathroom, with a great rain-shower. Some minor things were lacking (like hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes/a robe on) and the curtains were just a tiny bit too small to cover the whole window ;-), but the overal feel of the room and the hotel was nice, contempory and not overly polished.

We liked the location of the hotel very much: very close to the major sights, with a metro station (Thissio) literally around the corner. The street the hotel is on is not pretty and the surrounding streets are rather grim looking, but then: you do not notice that when you are in the hotel. If you are looking for a room with a view on the Acropolis though, I would not recommend the O&B.

The best "feature" of the O&B is the staff, especially the front desk. They are pleasant, knowledgeable about -and proud of- the city, and never too busy to do something extra for you: whether it is reserving a taxi or a table in a restaurant, arranging ice for a sore knee, or even lending you their own dvd (not from the menu!) to watch in the evening!

Nothing to fault then ? Well, actually there was one thing: breakfast. Based upon the TA-reviews read before our trip, my expectations were high and the O&B could not live up to that. Don't get me wrong: it was not bad, but I don't agree with all the raving reviews.
For one thing, I really don't understand why they serve French honey and jams instead of Greek. My biggest complaint however, is that it is overpriced. As they sell the rooms with a "complimentary" breakfast you do not notice straight away that they actually ask Eur 28,- for the "American" breakfast, which in my opinion is a lot of money for pre-baked factory bread, two eggs, a coffee, yoghurt and some juice. Only 5-star hotels in Amsterdam charge you the same, but then you get a full buffet with almost anything you can imagine you would like to eat....

So, overall good boutique hotel with still room for some improvement. They are currently adding another 9 rooms, planning to open in the fall of 2009, and I hope they will be able to maintain the same level of service as that is really their biggest asset. We very much liked the O&B, and will probably stay there again the next time we travel to Athens.

We got married in Greece and spent our honeymoon there as well. We stayed in Ochre and Brown for three nights. We prefer boutique hotels and O & B was just the kind of hotel we were looking for. The design was very tasteful and the hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms were very gorgeous. But there were some drawbacks.

We stayed in the junior suite with terrace/view of Acropolis the first two nights. We chose these room because we wanted to be able to have breakfast at the terrace while enjoying the view of Acropolis. Alas, we never got this enjoyment. First of all, it was too hot to be out in the terrace even early in the morning. Second, the view of Acropolis is only partial. Third, the views of the surrounding buildings and street were not pleasant. (More about the location below).

On our third night, the junior suite was not available so we stayed in the superior double room. It turned out to be fortunate because we found the superior double a more desirable room than the junior suite. Minus the terrace, the room size was much more spacious than the junior suite. So, save some money and stay in the superior double instead.

The location is a convenient walking distance to major attractions, however, it is still very rough and run down. Walking in its immediate vicinity makes you feel you’re walking in a third world country. They consider this area as a Soho of Athens but it still seem a long way before in can be gentrified like the Soho of London and New York.

This is a very nice small hotel. The staff is excellent and friendly. The breakfast that is included with the hotel is awesome. The complimentary welcome drinks and snacks were a very nice touch. We had dinner once in the hotel and it was also very good. The location is good. One is walking distance to many sites. The decor is very chic. We had a spacial double room. I found the room a bit small but the bathroom was a very good size.
I did find it was a bit loud at times from noise from the street but I guess that is expected from a happening location. Free internet is always a nice touch.

we very much enjoyed our stay at o&b. the customer service was more than we could have asked for-from the front desk to the staff in the restaurant, everyone was helpful and friendly. the guide the hotel recommended was useful in learning more on the acropolis. there was construction going on around the hotel, so slight noise-but we easily slept through it and would highly recommend this hotel to all our friends. truly their customer service cannot be beat.
