“A nice and very friendly hotel in a very good location”
Reviewed 14 February 2010

We enjoyed very much our stay. Breakfast was excellent, staff was very friedly and very helpful. The restaurant is good and nicly decorated. The location is very close to main tourist attractions, to restaurants and to the metro station.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in November. The hotel was a little tricky to find as it is tucked away down a rather unprepossessing side street. That said we were made to feel really welcome by the exceptionally helpful staff from the moment we walked through the door.
We had a room with a balcony from which you could see the Acropolis. For a 'suite' the room was a little on the small side with little hanging space for clothes but was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The shower was fantastic.
Food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service.
Despite my comment above on the street itself the location was good in terms of being albe to get to the main sites around Athens. We walked to pretty much everything.
In summary we were really pleased to have chosen the hotel and enjoyed a great stay with the terrific staff being the key factor.

From the moment we arrived we were treated exceptionally. The staff introduced themselves and showed us around the hotel. The welcome drink/snack was a lovely gesture. The cleanliness and attention to detail were second to none. we have travelled widely and can honestly say that this is the best hotel we have stayed in. The meal in the restaurant was delicious and well priced. The second night we ate out but returned to the hotel for dessert! Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very knowledgeable and gave us useful information about the area and Greek history/culture.The E15 tourist card for metro/bus was good value. it lasted 72 hours and included transport to and from the airport (which would cost E12 return). If you only have a few days in Athens, study the opening times of attractions and plan your days accordingly as we missed a couple of things!

O&B is a little gem of a hotel. No need to look any further if you are going to Athens. The interior makes you feel at home immediately - modern but with wooden flooring throughout; high-quality lighting, warm and welcoming. It has soul. Opened 4 years ago, it is a very clean, comfortable place with genuinely welcoming and efficient staff. The position could not be better if you are going - as you presumably are - to experience Athens' rich past (about 10-15 minutes walk from the Acropolis and the New Museum). Everything worth viewing is, in fact, within walking/short distance. The food at O&B is exceptionally good, freshly made and well presented. We ate in another restaurant - that was recommended to us by a lady at reception - but the prices were truly extortionate and the food as well as the presentation not as good as in the hotel itself. Plenty of turist traps in Athens as in any city worth visiting - which as regular travellers we could avoid. Still, other restaurants simply could not compete with the food at O&B. We ate a delicious soup there. It was so good that we asked for the recipe. When we went back to our hotel in the late evening not only did we find the typewritten recipe but also 500gramms of 'trachana' to attempt the recipe once back home! Glad to have found the resonably priced O&B in a sea of much-of-a-muchness hotels. Better, in fact, than many five stars we stayed at over the years. It played a big part in making our long week-end to Athens a truly unforgettable one.

My wife and I spent a week at the O&B Boutique Hotel, Athens as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary (November 15 - 22, 2009). The beautifully designed and decorated 11-room hotel provided a wonderful base from which we explored Athen's many attractions.

Our third floor room was a deluxe double with a tiny balcony and view of the Observatory. While small, the furnishings were superb - fine sheets, plush towels, rain forest shower, complementary bathroom amenities, etc. I appreciated the fact that the hotel would do an evening "bed turn-down" service, at which time used towels would be replaced and chocolates left on the pillows.

The only issue was that if we opened the door to the balcony at night in order to get fresh air, the street noises were load. These were not charming sounds of people playing music and singing. Rather, they were more along the lines of drunken brawls, accompanied by yelping dogs. One of our nights corresponded with student demonstrations (November 17th), and while we could not see anyone from our room, one would have thought that a riot was taking place outside the hotel all night long.

The breakfast offered on the main floor was a delight. I typically had Greek yogourt with honey and nuts, cereal, Greek style eggs, various breads with selecion of spreads and orange juice to start with a latte at the end. Then as my wife and I explored Athens during the day, I would count down the hours until the next day's breakfast.

A couple of times we also had dinner in the hotel's restaurant. These were finely prepared meals, though a little on the pricey side. The service was without fault. I also liked the fact that we could finish off our wine and dessert back in our room at our own liesurely pace.

Two other things stand out about the hotel. First, the overall service was top notch. We were greeted expectantly upon arrival and throughout our visit always given a smile and a friendly greeting. We truely felt like "guests" as opposed to "paying customers". The experience was very special.

Second, the location is very interesting. The hotel is tucked down a fairly "gritty" street with graffetti, flea market type shops and a large porn store. For those accustomed to suburban living, it may come as a bit of a shock. But less than a minute away and after crossing only one street, one can be on the 5 km pedestrianized route that circles past the Acropolis site and the Acropolis Museum to connect with the Plaka district of shops and restaurants. With such wonderful access to the attractions of Athens, we did not mind at all the little bit of "gritiness" of the street.

If we ever make it back to Athens, we would only consider staying at the O&B Boutique Hotel.

We stayed at O&B twice during our vacation and loved it both times. Room was comfortable, amenities were great --- and the breakfast was the BEST. Great selection of egg dishes, greek yoghurt, fresh fruit and pastries. The staff was always helpful as well --- and even made arrangements for takeaway snacks on the morning of our early flight. Highly recommended.
