We stayed at Delice before and after our tour in June 2011. I did a lot of research before booking the hotel. The reasons I chose Delice were: 1. Metro and bus connection to/from airport. 2. Hotel is located right behind Hilton Athens. It is convenient for tour pick up and in a nice neighborhood. 3. 4 star rating 4. very reasonable rate through Booking.com.

Here is how it turned out: 1. Metro/bus we tried both and determined Metro is the better way. One way single ticket is 8 euro. group of two one way is 14 euro. Bus is 5 euro one way per person. Metro is much faster. We were warned about pickpocket in Metro but we did not run into any problems. Get off at Evangelismos and take Sophias/Hospital exit and head toward HIlton. It is a 5-7 minutes walk to the hotel.
2. The neighborhood is nice. There is a very nice restuarant Alatsi around the corner. There is also a Pita Pan to get Gyros across the street. 3. The hotel is not 4 star. The room is clean and has telephone, TV, tea kettle and a frig. However, the paint color, the furniture and the worn out phone key pad made the room very dated. We could hear people talking in the hall way till late at night. 4. The rate is very reasonable compared to other Athens hotel. We had to pay 5 euro for 5 hours Wi-Fi connection. Fortunately the time is accumulative so we used the balance when we returned 4 days later.

I gave the hotel very good rating based on the value and location. You will be disappointed if you are expecting a 4-star hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Delice in April. This is our favorite type of place to stay. We prefer to find hotels that are just off the beaten path, quaint, somewhat small in size, and near a metro stop in a clean, quiet part of the city, and one that offers a small breakfast to get us started for the day. The Hotel Delice was just what we wanted. The hotel is within short walking distance from the Evangelismos station in Athens. The area is clean, and quiet, and we never felt uncomfortable in the area, day or night. It sits within one block of the massive Hilton Hotel, and for the price we think we got a much better deal. We had read reviews of several other hotels closer to the center of the city, and after seeing them, and hearing of the warnings to be careful at night, decided that we should stick to our normal travel plans and stay just outside the city center. The sites in Athens are relatively close together within the city, so it is easy to want to find a hotel right amidst them all, but the other upside to the sites being close together, is you can stay just 5 minutes out ( by the metro) of the city center and still be instantly within the center of the fun.

The lobby is clean, and the clerks were very helpful. They were full of suggestions, and tips on navigating the city as well as getting to and from Piraeus in the middle of the night. The room was large, and somewhat plain, but we only sleep in the room, so functionality is more appropriate for us than attractiveness. The room was clean, and well maintained, and the bathroom a fair size. One of the things we enjoyed was, the shower always had plenty of hot water. I really hate hotel baths that can't seem to supply a constant amount of hot water. The room was made up daily, and while there is no safe in the room, one can keep goods stored in a safe just behind the breakfast area. There is a small refrigerator in the room; another must for us. The breakfasts were wonderful. Plenty of Greek style offerings, as well as continental staples. The fresh squeezed juice (you make it yourself) via a bowl of just picked oranges, and a juice machine, was top notch! The breakfast are is a bit cramped and tough to negotiate at times, but made for the chance to meet others who where staying there. There is a computer room, for those who need to use a PC. We used it to check in for our flight home. The only down side to that was there is no printer to print boarding passes, etc. Also I should mention, that we took a 3 day leave to visit Milos. The Delice Hotel kindly stored our luggage for us while we were gone, and not once did we worry that our luggage might not be safe. The staff at the Hotel Delice were professional, kind, and very helpful! We contacted them via their website email address, and they responded promptly, and regularly. I highly recommend this hotel if you like to travel as we do.

Room Tip: Elevator is old and can be a bit noisy.

We stayed for 4 nights and thought this was a great value with really big spacious rooms for our family of 4. The refrigerator & small kitchen was big plus. We also loved the balcony to enjoy the sunsets after long days of siteseeing. The metro was a 5-10 minute walk and we really enjoyed the neighborhood near the British Embassy for good dinners, pasty shops, and ice cream. The breakfast was fine, enough variety for everyone but not spectacular. The hotel is a little older, but the entire City is old! Overall a great value and great for families.

Room Tip: Big discount for advance non-refundable reservatn

I stayed in this hotel with a work collegue and we were very impressed. The rooms were a good size and clean with a balcony, alough the view was just of a brick wall as it was a work trip i wasnt bothered.
the breakfasts were generous and buffett style, and you could make freshly squeezed orange juice.
the bathroom was nice, there were freebies and a good powerful shower.
the reception staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
the location was pretty good, although its probably not the most interesting part of athens for tourists you can walk (a fairly long walk but do-able) to the Acropolis and that side of athens.
i would recommend this hotel and i would stay here again

This was my first stay at this hotel and overall it was a good stay for the three nights I was staying in the City. It is close to the Metro and is surrounded by plenty of cafes and restaurants.

I was given room 50 on the 5th floor, a spacious, clean, double room with coffee making facilities. There is also a fridge in the room for storing items of your own. The bathroom consisted of a deep bath and a hand shower. A small but clean bathroom with the towels being changed each day.The only downside to this room is that it is behind the lift, which you can hear every time it is used to go up and down through the building. Not the best room if you are a light sleeper!

The breakfast is a buffet that consists of ham slices, cheese slices, boiled eggs, cereals, sliced bread, rolls, selection of jams, yoghurt, honey, cake slices, coffee/tea, orange juices etc. There is a toaster and a sandwich grill for making toasties if you like these. (just remember setting 1 is higher heat than setting 3) There is even a fresh orange juicer to squeeze fresh oranges.

The hotel has internet WIFI which starts at 5 euros for 5 hours. Once connected, this worked fine with no problems on my own laptop.

The staff are very polite and there is a very friendly hotel cat that may greet you in the lounge at the front of the hotel :-)
