“Value for Money - Excellent location”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

We stayed for a night, the room was basic and clean. Hotel is located 100m from Omonia square and the metro station.
Hotel is self-service, no help to take luggage to the rooms. However, staff at reception was helpful - helped us with all our queries and taxi to ports etc.

We payed approx. $50 for a night, so good value for money

Hotel Diros is in a wonderful location right by Omonia Square, handy for metro from airport, National Archaeological Museum, bus station, central markets, walking distance of Plaka and not far from classical sites. Basic budget hotel, clean, comfortable, good air conditioning, wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast basic but plentiful and tasty. Close to handy bars, cafés and tavernas. Very pleasant for stay in central Athens. Ignore stories of drug addicts and prostitutes nearby - we didn't come across them.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms better for those who are lift-averse, but hotel staff happy to change rooms

Our room was large enough for the two of us, the beds were comfortable and clean, the bath and shower facilities were what we needed. Breakfast (breads, jam, coffee, fruit juice) was basic but good quality. Above all, the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel is three minutes walk from Omonia, and central for just about everything - we only once used public transport to get anywhere central.
OK, it is not a boutique hotel, there is no bar, swimming pool, or room service, no free pot pourri or biscuits for the guests. But who actually wants these? If you do, you can pay masses extra for that sort of hotel. As for the area, it can be rough - but what inner city isn't? And I certainly felt safer walking round than I do in London. I would go there again.

The only good thing was the location and the low fares.

I asked to a silent room and they gave us a room on the 1st floor and to the street, beside the breakfast room. The street was very busy making the sleep terrible. The room seemed a little dirty and everything looks very old. The breakfast was ridiculous, only toast, butter, coffee and a watery juice. I DO NOT RECOMMEND to anyone.

This hotel provided just the bare minimum. Highly uncomfortable beds were you could feel each individual spring, awkward shower with inadequate shower curtain flooding the bathroom, very poor breakfast. If you are just looking for a clean place to sleep, you will be fine. Take any further expectations somewhere else!

Surrounding Area isnt that good for tourists to have a 1st,2nd or 100th view of Athens due to many immigrants ,homless, prostitutes and drug addicts.
Yet again ,it is close to Omonoia and the metro station ,close to Athens Market and Monastiraki and all means of transport.
Room was very basic but nevertheless clean.
Staff was polite enough and available no matter the time .
Besides that , considering the sounds coming from next rooms,it seems that it might be mostly suited to rent by the hour than the night.
But still it was honest value for its money.

The district is not the safe one (many homeless, anarchists and so on)

Breakfast was more than poor - only jam and bread (the worst hotel breakfast I have ever seen).

Room wasn't clear and there was lack of fresh air.
Actually, you get what you pay for. But better I'd payed a bit more and did not rely on "breakfast included"

I recommend it ONLY if you have NO money to book something better

P. S. I wounder how they managed to receive "TripAdvisor" badge on a front door.
