I stayed for 5 nights in early April at the start of a 12 month trip around Europe. It is a budget trip and I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest. I got a 1 bedroom room, the bed was a single. In the room was a TV (remote didn't work), shower, toilet, fridge and desk area. It also had Wifi which worked well. It also had a balcony which over looked the back of the hotel which was a bit of a dodgy looking area. The managers of the hotel were good, but a couple of them didn't speak any English at all which was a bit tricky at times. The only big negative was the location, as it is located in a very poor area. After dark it gets a bit dangerous and unsafe. Once you are a few blocks away it is nice though.

After arriving at our hotel around 1 as our ferry feom the islands was delayed we were advise we were being moved to hotel elite as there was no power.

The room smelt like chlorine which was used to mask the smoke smell. The giant balcony led to the room next door in which no one was in by the door wide open for cats, birds etc.

In the morning we had no power so cold showers, barroom in the dark and as we were on the 8th floor we had to get back down.

After bringing our concerns to the receptionist who had no idea what we were saying, he then proceeded to call a lady (never found out who he was).

Told her we were unhappy at being moved hotels to a dump and we wanted our money back. She advised us it's lot the hotels fault there was no power and refused to listen to our view of we are paying for a service, if the service is not provided we should be reimbursed.

As this was going on the old Greek man receptionist changed smoked 1 after another.

We had no choice and had to say there, never choose this hotel!

We were transferred to this hotel as the one we booked was having power issues. We arrived at 2am as the Ferry was late. We paid cash on arrival. Sheets & towels were stained and the room had an overpowering chlorine smell trying to cover the cigaret smell. In the morning we had no power, therefore the bathroom was in complete darkness, the shower had no hot water and we were on the 8th level with no lift, so we had to carry our bags down 8 flights of stairs. The man at reception spoke little English, and did not apologies at all. Also it was the only place on the street with no power, would not surprise me if their power was cut off because they didn't pay the bill.
We have been traveling for 4 months all over Europe and this was by far the worst place we have stayed at so far. Please do not stay here, there is a lovely hostel right in Plaka Student Travellers Inn, perfect location and amazon staff!

Myself and three other travellers stopped over in athens before beginning a tour of the Greek islands. We booked this hotel for its very cheap rates. When we arrived we realised it was in a very bad neighbourhood, and we did not feel safe at all. We then proceeded to check in. Once we had our keys, we went up the TINY elevator 2 at a time (even then it felt unsteady!).

Our rooms were basic. Double bed for myself and partner and two singles for the others. The rooms smelt strongly of cigarette smoke and the air conditioner failed to work adequately. Oh and it was a 45 degree day! The bathroom was very dated, and there was no curtain for the shower which if it had been used would have sprayed the whole bathroom!

we dropped our bags off and as we handed the keys in before leaving to find some dinner the man at reception told us to "be careful" and that it wasn't safe in this area. great! Also, one of the guys with us was offered drugs right outside the hotel! We also walked past an alley way which was full of people obviously high and prostitutes just near the hotel.

Anyway, we decided as a group to move hotels as we didn't feel our belongings were safe, nor ourselves for that matter. We moved to the novotel which was close, but the neighbourhood was not as bad and decent rates too!

If you're a backpacker looking for cheap accomodation then it's perfect, however i don't recommend for families or for those looking for comfort!

Nice budget hotel with clean room and bathroom. Short walk to Acropolis and archeological museum. Don’t be put off by its location near Omonia Square. Many nice places to eat nearby.
