The Ariston hotel is located close to the main train station of Athens and a 10 minutes walk from the archeological museum. While its location is not very central it's very convenient when you're planning to take a very from Piraeus because it's only a 15 minutes train ride away.
The hotel is rather new. Service is very good. Rooms a bit small but with very good beds.
Metro connections to the more touristic areas of the city, otherwise buy your ticket for the hop-on hop off bus at the stop opposite the archeological museum.

The hotel has all the basic amenities, is clean and is a good value for money choice in Athens. The only downside is that it is not located within walking distance of the Acropolis and the Plaka - the main area in Athens. However, it is situated right opposite the Larissa metro station which makes the travelling across Athens very easy. The bathroom is a little small and got a little flooded with water, which was a downside. Otherwise, we stayed here for just one night and had a decent stay.

The staff was very nice, especially Sofia who was very nice and helpful. The room was small but comfy and always clean. The location is not central, but it's near to a subway station, a Carrefour, in a safe residential area and not so far away from the center.
The breakfast could be improved, it's all right for 3.5 euros if you book it online, but not worth the 5 euros you have to pay at the reception.
It was a very good choice for just 39 euros / night.

The Price is perfect! The only real problem i had it wasn't as close as i thought to things but it was only a metro ride away but we like to walk to see things!

The word Ariston means Excellent in greek and in fact this hotel is as good as it gets given its price. I have stayed there twice so far and never got dissapointed. First of all the location is very convenient, especially if you are travelling by train since it is right in front of the train station. Of course there is also a metro stop, and since metro is the main means of transportation in Athens all the interesting places can be reached very easily. There are also taxis parked in front of the train station at all times. The surrounding area might not be the best possible but there is no need to explore it anyway. Nowadays it is safer than it used to be in the past, just exercise common sense. The hotel itself is small but rather cosy. The reception is polite and helpful. The rooms are clean and have a simple yet tasty decoration. There is also a small balcony which is a nice place to relax at a warm summer night in Athens after a day full of sightseeing. The rooms are soundproof, once you close the balcony door you can hear no noise from the street. Breakfast is perhaps the weakest point of the hotel, it is extremely basic and one can have it in the few tables in front of the reception. However, if you need water you can buy it from the reception at any time (24/7) at the same price as anywhere else (supermarket, grocery store or kiosk).
Generally I was very satisfied and Ariston will probably be my first choice on my next visit to Athens. It is a small bugdet hotel for a good sleep in a convenient location.

Everything is excellent about this hotel, just the area in which it is located is not one of the best in Athens. The hotel is a few steps away from a metro station (Stathmos Larissis), it is close to the centre of Athens, and it has a Carrfour (supermarket) nearby. There are all sorts of small shops in the area, as well. There is a laundry service one metro station away, at Metaksourgio. There is also a paid parking nearby which is very clean and has very good service. The hotel is very clean, very nicely decorated, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good; it is served on the ground floor, where you can sit at a table by the window and have an open view of the neighbourhood. Definitely value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have a panoramic view of the city.

Chosen for its proximity to the main Athens rail station, and indeed its only a 2 minute walk.

Receptionist was helpful, she knew my requests and gave me choice of two to look at. The road at front of hotel is very busy, and I am glad they listened to my request at back of hotel.

Room was small but comfortable. Wifi worked well, as did the air con.

Only draw back was noise insulation, you can hear everybody coming and going.

Breakfast was typically Greek, nice to have warm croissants, but the coffee is poor.

I had some internet train tickets to print off, no PC or printer, but sent reception an email and they printed off for 30 Euro cents a page.
