The setting of Orizontes is probably one of the most privileged in Europe, and it's definitely a worthwhile experience. However, do not set your hopes for the food quality too high. We decided on a selection of starters to share between us - some were really good, some were mediocre and some were just not very interestng at all. The main coourses were acceptable, but nothing impressive - my own tagliatelle with lobster could feed a village - with pasta - while the lobster was gone in two bites. Friendly staff, fantastic views and acceptable food - but probably because we were in good company and would have enjoyed ourselves at any half-decent burger joint, anyway.

We were really disappointed with our meal. My lobster dish was inedible and even my husband couldn't eat it. We loved the location and views though. One lovely staff member, others too busy to care. We were asked why we didn't eat the food, when informed why, they did offer a replacement meal, but being late in the night we declined. Really Disappointed..an expensive view.

We went for dinner to Orizontes a few weeks ago and i just loved the view! Getting there, you have to take the cable car up to the stop. It goes every half hour and costs about 13 euros! I complete rip off! The view was spectacular at the top, you can see the whole of Athens. When we walked into the restaurant there was no one to greet us as all the waiters and hostess were outside on the balcony! We were about to leave as we thought the place was closed! Food was very over priced and not that fantastic.Fish was very over cooked. We also were not told when we paid the bill that we had to wait for the cable car for another half hour until we left the restaurant and went to catch the cable car!! They should have told us when we asked for the bill. All in all an OK experience but it was too expensive for 2nd class food.

We had read mixed reviews about the food here, but we wanted to experience the birds eye view of Athens, so off we headed. After a short cable car ride we arrived at the top of Mt. Lycabetus, and the stunning views. There was a light cool breeze, but we decided to sit in the outdoor terrace section. Some of the staff seemed a bit unsure, but everyone was polite. Our menu was chickpea dip with grilled squid on the side, marinated fish, followed by main - groper fish in herb sauce accompanied by beetroot risotto. Our first choice of wine was not available so we opted for a Greek grape Malagouzia, which was not exceptional and quite pricey. The food was very good, especially the chickpea entree and the groper with risotto.
Next time we would go up the hill with the taxi, as the cable car cost 6 Euro each, which was a bit expensive when added to our taxi fare. It is a bit touristy however, all in all, a very enjoyable evening, although we were a bit cold when we left. Take warm jackets in mid season.

Food was not bad, but the view was the must-see in Athens. If you don't wanna have meal, there are tables for drinks with same view.
