Owner description: The theme and the story in Lockhill are extremely important, and the game itself is constructed around it, instead of just being pasted like other escape games. We have given extra care to the general atmosphere, lighting, music, decoration and storytelling as they are of utter importance in order for you to immerse yourself in the experience. We have really tried to make the experience as similar as possible to a very atmospheric adventure game. Story wise, Lockhill resembles a small village where the full story reveals itself slowly over the course of your visits as you explore different locations (rooms) and you find different clues that will ultimately piece together the overall plot. You'll have to escape from some rooms, or find out how to enter others! The whole experience and each individual room are of our own creation.

Almost a whole year after our Lockwood Manor experience we returned to Metaxourgheio and the portal to Lockhill Village to explore the Voodoo Shop and discover more information on its past & present.

William was there to greet us and provide us with the required briefing before we entered the shop, and in contrast to our previous encounter we thouroughly enjoyed our interactions with him. The great Lockhill atmosphere is of course present in Voodoo Shop as well, as it is setup in a very detailed way and truly feels like a weird shop (I won't claim I know how a proper voodoo shop should look like of course). The highlight of the room are the puzzles. They are hard and more interesting than the ones in Lockwood Manor, however without unwanted & unexpected distractions you are able to focus on solving and taking in the story of the shop and its owner.

We thoroughly enjoyed the room and the only negative point is that the other 2 Lockhill rooms are still not ready, then again hopefully the delay will mean they are even better than the existing ones!

Lockhill is hidden in an otherwise inconspicuous building in Plateia Karaiskaki. The surrounding area is not one of the best in Athens, though it is close to the Metaxourgheio metro station. However as soon as you enter you get transferred to Lockhill! You are then pitted as investigators trying to uncover what happened to Nathan Jones, a professor in the University of Boston, who went missing while researching a recent archaeological find in Lockhill. The whole decoration and atmosphere is great! An interesting spin is that your game master is in character throughout. Though to be honest we did not really enjoy his character, as he came through as a bit obnoxious

We tried Lockwood Manor as our first Lockhill experience. As mentioned you are greeted by William, who is living in Lockhill and is there to help you with your investigation. The decoration is the best we have seen until now (we have tried another 11 escape room location and 20 escape rooms in total, with one being outside Athens in Barcelona, Spain) and it is not limited to the room itself but the whole space is created to look like a village. William stayed in character throughout our visit, however he may come across as ironic and unhelpful at times and that is not particularly good specifically if the team is not well prepared with the story and the background of this. We’d prefer him to work a bit harder to explain the story rather than just continuously asking “do you know why you are here?”, etc. The room itself, the Manor is again beautifully made and the attention to detail is obvious. It features a combination of searching and solving. The riddles are not the best we’ve encountered and would be considered fairly easy, however the atmosphere of the room is there to distract. It definitely helps in keeping you on the edge of your seat (just an expression, don’t expect a lot of seating ;) ). I believe it includes what a horror room should include and unless you are not a fan of jump scares, you’ll probably enjoy it. What we’d definitely prefer a bit more would be that the story we are slowly uncovering would be more connected with solving the riddles themselves. (Which it is, but not nearly enough) Otherwise you will end up having part of the team trying to follow the story and get all the right details (important for later in the game) and the rest will be trying to discover lock combinations. All in all, I’d say it is a nicely made room with great atmosphere but mediocre riddles. Even if you do not manage to escape in time though you’ll probably enjoy the experience (which we did). We’re now looking forward for Voodoo room.

One practical thing to point out: The Manor especially tends to be really popular and the website did not allow us to book past the following month, so you have to plan early and be quick in booking if you want to try it! (note though the review is written a few good months after we visited so things may have changed in terms of popularity)

This is a must. Two of the best escape rooms in Athens with exceptional atmosphere. Great work. Looking forward to the new rooms\chapters of Lockhill's story...

I 've been both to lockwood manor and voodoo shop.
They are quite different even though they are based on the same tale.
The Manor is mostly based on the atmosphere and the storyline while the sequence of riddles is poorest and less creative.
The voodoo shop was really exiting, with lots of tasks to do and collaboration is very important!
5 stars for the shop, I would say 3 for the manor.
Maybe if we were less people it would be perfect but I have to point out that we weren't told that 6 people are a lot for that room.
I would suggest 3-4pers
