A classic french restaurant with good service and nice location (if you stay in the center of town)
Try the chateaubriand ,the sole a la meunière ,and the soufflé of chocolate .
I think it's a lot of better place in Athens.

Four of us ate here about three weeks ago . The indoor seating was elegant, and the non smoking
strictly enforced, so that for Athens is a tremendous plus .

The waiter was helpful with a degree of condescension, so I get the sense that he believes he is
Authentic .

The frogs legs were soggy and lacking in texture but the salads were nice . I had a Veal dish that
was on the menu in-spite of the lack of truffles, and it was insipid .

Some of the beef dishes I.E. The Chateaubriand was fair, but for these prices you expect more than fair.

The onion soup was long on bread and short on cheese . As for the reviewers who rave about this
place, you wonder if they get out often .

Oldest French restaurant in Athens (1965), maybe the oldest "good restaurant" of the city, when rich&famous like Onassis visited again and again...
Keeps the atmosphere, the style (elegance, finesse...), the real French food always well cooked and well presented. Polite service, silver cutlery, linen tablecloths etc. in a romantic garden during summer (you forget the city's cement all around) it is perfect for a candlelit dinner (only candles on the tables and low lights here and there). Like yesterday evening, when we celebrated our anniversary there and we enjoyed it a lot!
I noticed they lowered all the a la cart prices, which is wise! The set menu at 30 euros pp is still good value for money (on offer for lunch and dinner everyday) and we chose that! Both of us had salmon tartare for appetizer. It was excellent, fresh and tasty, served with cherry tomatoes and tiny asparagus. Looked small, but it was enough (since it's finely chopped and formed by a setting ring). My husband had entrecote cafe de paris which was really goooood (I dipped and dipped in his sauce), large portion perfectly cooked (medium as he asked) and with a huge portion of fries (thinly cut, parisien style) and I had the grilled salmon with sauce vin blanc (served with vegetables). The waiter served me some fries too (even if they are not included), I couldn't say no, ha ha ha!
We had chocolate mousse and strawberry meringue dessert, both very nice!
Other choices in the set menu is any salad you want from the cart or the millefeuille with prawns and leeks for starters, then steak tartare or chicken (plus the ones we got of course) and 2-3 more desserts. Fine! Plus bread (thin slices) and butter with pink peppercorns, it's enough for normal people! If you are hearty eaters maybe you need more...
Wine list is impressive, but most French wines are expensive (good wines though...). Greek wines are reasonably priced and we chose a bottle for 29 euros (choices from 20 euros or 0,5lt carafe at 10 euros if you want to go cheaper). So the bill was 95 euros for 2, fair enough for the place and the food&wine we enjoyed!
On a weekday night and it got full after 10 (making the service slower, GO EARLY), I noticed certain rich&famous still visit it (tradition and quality still sell, fortunately), greetings from the owner to every one of us (famous or not) and same professional service for every one as well...
Indoors can't beat the garden but is cosy and classy, better than many Paris restaurants we have visited (paying more usually). If you want French in Athens, consider Abreuvoir!
