We were looking for a reasonably priced, restful overnight stay near the port and the X96 airport express bus and the Piraeus Dream Hotel fitted the bill perfectly. For a budget hotel the rooms are surprisingly roomy, comfortable, modern and quiet with a large balcony. The staff were friendly and efficient and provided us with a free map. Useful information about nearby amenities was provided in the room. The breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of choice, good coffee and the option of going back for more.
Some parts of port area have been reported by some as being a bit dodgy, but the area around this hotel was fine with many boutiques, churches, and a few taverna. We had a good incredibly cheap evening snack at one ("Mythos" ?) a few hundred metres from the hotel. Definitely a place to come back to. The airport bus and the metro are about 5 to 10 minutes walk away.

The hotel is recently refurbished, clean, run by friendly helpful staff and is very well located for catching ferries to the islands particularly close to gates 8 & 9 and close (500m) to where the bus from the airport stops. Breakfast is standard buffet fare and the price was quite competitive. Our room had a nice roomy balcony overlooking Piraeus and the nearby Orthodox Church. Will stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony

We had a horrible day trying to get to this hotel ...... I was robbed at the metro, just a long bad day ........ The lady at the hotel sent us a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit to our nice room ....... Just impressed with the care they gave.

Room Tip: Careful when traveling anywhere in Athens.

Stayed two nights first when traveling out to the islands and once coming back. Clean hotel easyish to find good staff. On way to islands arrived 11pm left 6am good sleep easy. On the way back 11:30pm arrive 10am depart, it seems everybody in the singles section leaves at 6 - 7am to catch the ferries. So my thoughts of a lie in was unachievable, at one point I could hear 3 different showers. After all had gone then some sleep until housemaid duties started at 8am! THE Breakfast was superb, bacon, sausage, toast, salad + lots of choice. Overall ok for overnight. ALSO there was mentioned a welcome gift, but the hotel staff knew nothing of this not even the water in the fridge is free.

We ended up making a booking here 'cause our ferry was canceled because of striking workers (a very common and annoying occurrence in Greece). And because the website/e-mail updates had said that our ferry was still sailing, we had checked out of our Athens hotel and made our way to Piraeus. However, it turns out the ferry was canceled after all even though it was the day after the strike. Whatever...

Once we found out our ferry was canceled, we hopped onto Expedia and booked this place. The reservation went through very quickly, and we checked into the Piraeus Dream within a couple of hours.

BTW--if you find yourself near the port and need free wifi, go inside of gate E3. And to your right, there's a weird-looking single-story building that's kind of like a rest area with bathrooms. It also has Starbucks, and the workers will give you the free wifi code even if you don't buy anything (at least the ones I asked did).

The hotel room was nice with a huge balcony overlooking the back of other buildings. The bed was comfortable, and the A/C provided welcome relief from the early summer heat. Free wifi at the hotel.

The only con is that the shower area is small and you will get the floor around the shower area all wet 'cause the shower curtain doesn't reach all the way to the floor.

Breakfast is okay. Not super but not bad. I think there was powdered eggs and some sausages and some breads.

The front desk is helpful and efficient. The hotel is also close to a nice pier area (southeast of the hotel) that has a lot of restaurants and shops (including Carrefour) around. It was far less boring than I thought, especially considering that Piraeus is known just as a transit point for people taking ferries to the islands.

So after we checked in, we went to the pier area to have some dinner and then walked around the pier area, which was very busy with a lot of people doing the same. We closed off the night at an ice cream place and then walked back to get some shut eye before our ferry the following afternoon.
