Booked holiday and was very pleased with the price, but never expected such a lovely Hotel, from the Manager to the Porter nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent and it's a must to try the Ala Carte night. The entertainment was the usual with the Animation team doing their best we met some nice people so it didn't really bother us the drinks were good quality for an AIl inclusive and the wine served at meal times was good. Nice rooms quite spacious, had to pay for safe 3 Euros a night so could be expensive if you are there for 2 weeks, and the fridge was empty had to pay 2.5 Euros for a small bottle of water at the bar, but the hotel shop sold a large bottle for 65c lovely balcony over looking the sea and although it was the start of the season very quite, it was the Hotel next door that all the noise came from The water sports are free and also Beach Towels are provided( wish I had known this) The Chinese on the beach are fabulous for a massage We paid 10Euros and would recommend this one . I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE WHO WANTED GOOD FOOD GOOD SERVICE AND CLEAN ROOMS

Can't fault the hotel at all. Lovely staff, very helpful - nothing was too much trouble and Alexandrous, Georgios and Marina were fantastic, not forgetting the lady in the main bar whose name I did not catch. All spoke perfect English, German, French. Entertainment staff were full of energy and enthusiasm. Clean rooms, towels and bedding fresh each day. Food plentiful and something to suit everyone. Beautiful pools, two outdoor and one indoor, plus kiddies pool, jaccuzi and gym and treatment room. Fantastic value for money, but do watch those mozzies. We came back today (21st May) covered in bites. We had no idea Crete had mosquitoes but be warned, take repellent and plenty of it. Hotel has own private sandy beach, sun loungers and beach towels are provided. Dining room is very nice as are the public areas, gardens etc. Probably a 3 or 4 star by English standards but excellent for familes, as well as older folk. Not a place to go to if you like peace and solitude but it is possible to escape the fun and noise if youy wish to. Hiring a car is probably best as buses do not always go to the out of the way places, but buses are like our coaches and very comfy and clean. I hope to go back soon. All the Greek people I met were lovely.

This hotel is rated as 5* but as most know these rating systems are a bit wayward and it is really between 3 and 4 in English speak. However dont let that put you off. The rooms are always clean if a little dated and showing there age on the decor and maintenance front but not at all bad and the areas around them are well tended and kept tidy and neat.
The food is very good and the Chef/s try there best to vary the meals and add a bit of continental flavour to some of the dishes.
The outside areas are always immaculate and the swimming pool itself superb with the water checked for cleanliness and bacteria etc at least twice while we were there.
Whilst some of the bigger hotels in the area seemed to be aimed at exclusively English, German or French people this smaller and more compact hotel had a lovely cosy atmosphere with a mixture of all nationalities.
But the most important thing was the friendliness and approachability of all the staff. Always willing to help you, have a laugh with you, advise you and it is they who make this a lovely place to stay.

Pictures on TA outdated. A complete revamp for 2010. We travelled at the beginning of the season for a relaxing week, which we certainly had & wasn't disappointed with either food or drink. Animation Team good but performances amateurish, may get better as season gets on, mainly French speaking but they spoke good english, they made the holiday with interaction with guests. Cellar entertainment not ideal too hot & not safe for large crowds. Would certainly re-consider going back but not sure if any later in season. Beach bar still under contruction. If you wanted a drink when on beach you had to walk back up to Hotel Pool Bar. A good 5 mins brisk walk to get the bus every 30 mins into Heraklion Stand 17 & 3 Euros each there & from station back e 2.40. Overall good break, clean, spacious rooms, expensive safe & hotel shop but vfm.

Having read previous reviews on trip advisor our expectations.for our stay here was high.
Now having been there I can endorse the comments made by most regarding the cleanliness, general location and the food, but the following items in our party of four need reviewing with action taken by the hotel to remedy the items listed.
Readers may regard some of the comments a bit "picky" but in my opinion they need to be addressed urgently./
These are as follows;
1) As in most hotels there is a small safe in which to keep your valuables but in this hotel they charge 3 Euros a day to use it!!. Of all the many hotels I have been to never have I had to pay to use the safe!
2) Each room has air conditioning which is mentioned in the Hotel handbook, but there are no DEFINITIVE instructions on how to use it!
3) Rooms numbered in the 810 to 820 range are in a building remote from the main complex. Whilst it has it's own smaller swimming pool, if you want drinks etc either from the main bar or the pool bar you have to walk some 60 metres or so to the main building and then walk back with them!
In addition this pool is right next to a road and offers no privacy if you are using the pool and sun loungers. A fence needs to be erected.
Furthermore the grass areas around the pool and the building in general during our visit was badly overgrown and neglected.
4) In the main building there is the bar and areas to sit both in and outdoors but there is no segregation for non smokers. In addition during the evening music is played in the indoor area where would you believe it is a large TVset (not that I want to watch TV whilst on holiday) but because of the loudness of the music those who would like to watch cannot hear the sound! In my opinion there needs to be (a) a separate TV lounge and (b) a separate room where the non smokers can relax without all the smoke and smell!
5) The hotel has a small crazy golf facility located outside the main building. We thought one afternoon this would be a change and obtained the putter and balls from the "Animation" room. Firstly the condition of the putter grips was appalling- rubber missing and torn but this was not the only problem, the various crazy holes were in urgent need of repair the surfaces and obstacles were terrible. But the worst thing was the general area between and around the holes because there was very little grass mainly weeds and if as I believe this hotel has been recently refurbished then certainly this are was clearly overlooked.
The hotel seems to cater mainly for the French with the daily and evening entertainment provided by an organisation called FRAM> These representatives of FRAM were excellent and entertained and mixed with all people and quite frankly are a real credit.
I like Crete very much and have been there twice before to the Minos Beach in Elounda and also to one in Rethymnon.
Both of these were of a very high standard because they paid attention to all details however small. If this hotel paid attention to the points above I would have no hesitation in increasing the overall rating and recommending it to others.

Aquis, Manager at Bella Beach Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 25 May 2010

Thank you for your detailed review and the positive comments that you made for cleanliness, general location and the food. In Aquis hotels & Resorts we aim to achieve the highest standards of hotel services and facilities and although the majority of tripadvisor reviews are very positive, we always welcome feedback with suggestions for improvement as we see it as a great opportunity to progress.

Regarding the in room safe there is a daily charge as you mention, our approach is instead of including the safe in the initial price paid by holiday makers and offer it for free during your stay, we preferred to keep it optional for those that would like to use it. I know that this may seem unusual to some, but I can reassure you that this is mainly done for offering a value for money vacation option with quality standards on such difficult times. This is of course clearly mentioned to all our partners and on the “accommodation” section of our website is it labeled with an * and the explanation that require extra charge, payable locally.

We will certainly take into consideration your comments regarding the air-condition instructions. We haven’t included them in the directory, as it works with a single on/off remote control and temperature controller, but what it seems to puzzle many of our guests is that most try to put it in operation with the doors open, all balcony doors must be closed while the air-conditioning is in operation. This is the main point stated on our directory of services but we will certainly revise to make it clearer now; we apologize for the inconvenience caused.

As to the drink issue on the second pool, I would really like to explain our approach, which is based on our guest feedback. The second pool has been created mainly for those guests that prefer a quiet atmosphere away from the crowd, animation, kids swimming pool etc. The hotel’s large sized main pool always offers enough sun beds for everyone and we have concentrated all facilities around this, leaving the one you mention for those that are not so in favor of lively environment. This has been done after considerable feedback we got from our guests, so to offer two alternatives but the creation of a bar on the second pool would automatically mean more noise both for the rooms and the pool area. We will certainly look into the fence issue and thank you so much for bringing those into our attention.

In regards to smoking we are pleased to announce that all our indoor areas are non smoking and there is absolutely no indoor place where someone could smoke inside. We still haven’t got a segregation for non smokers in the outside areas and we will certainly look into this matter.

Further to your comments made for our mini golf rest assured that we will seriously address those concerns to the manager. We are great believers that small details make big difference and to tell you the truth this year we did all this renovation you mention without even mentioning that we did any renovation into our partners. I want to stress that this hotel has been finally renovated by the many small changes we did during the winter.

Thank you once more very much for your constructive feedback which is valuable to us in our search of service excellence and we certainly hope that you will give us the opportunity to welcome you again in any of our properties in Crete, Kos, Rhodes and Corfu.

We went to the Aquis Bella Beach Hotel for our Honeymoon on the first week of May. We couldn't have asked for a better place to be on our Honeymoon. The weather was lovely, not too hot, perfect. Facilities were excellent, lovely and clean and staff were excellent. The food was amazing...not a bad word to say about the place. Would definitely go back...but for much longer this time!!! I defy anybody not to love it!!!
