“Private Pool = WOW”
Reviewed 4 July 2012

We stayed at the Miramare last month and booked a deluxe room with private pool, and all I can say is wow. The rooms are fantastic and I would definitely reccomend paying the supplement to upgrade to the private pool.

We will be back next year!!

We spent a relaxing week here in a room with a plunge pool and sea view which seemed to be in a newer block of the hotel. The room was simple and clean and comfortable enough although not luxurious. There is a 'fridge but you have to provide your own drinks and there was a kettle but no cups or tea/coffee. There is a safe which we did not use - the cost was 3 euros per day which is far too high. We had free wi-fi but it would otherwise be very expensive.

The resort is quite large with lots of steps everywhere so no good if you have difficulties with mobility. There are some lifts to take you to different levels.

The hotel appears to be a mix of 3-4* and the all inclusive is rather confusing here. You can have all meals and drinks (limited cocktails and not premium brands but OK) most of the day but after 6 pm you have to pay for coffee as hot drinks and 'snacks' stop then as well (snacks were usually left over cake and biscuits from breakfast). We had to pay for a lunch one day as it was not clear that we were not allowed any 'a la carte'. Some theme nights were advertised but did not materialise as clearly too expensive for most people.

The main restaurant - Bellavista - is like a huge canteen - noisy and at times chaotic. The food is plentiful but this was not a pleasant restaurant experience. There was also much waste due to over greedy guests. The Aegeon restaurant is a contrast and much quieter and calm. It is not fine dining but altogether more pleasant with staff who are not hassled and pressured. Look out for the lovely 'Mrs Overall' in the main restaurant! Bar staff friendly and efficient.

There was no entertainment apart from George the excellent pianist. Also brilliant were the girls from the Spa who gave very good back massages and facial.

The town is a short walk away and quite nice to look around and to buy souvenirs (don't buy them in the hotel shop). The pools were not overcrowded as many guests seemed to prefer the beach but we didn't. No real service around the pools but drinks at bar and ice-cream available on tap.

All in all a pleasant holiday - a week is probably enough - weather was hot and sunny and very windy towards the end of the week.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a pool and sea view.
