“Summer holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

Just returned from a two week all-inclusive holiday at the Mirabello. Had a garden view room which was large, airy and very clean. The food was of a good standard with plenty of choice. Drinks quality also good, although as previously mentioned always served in half pints for the all-inclusive guests. The only thing that was not too good was the entertainment. Too few acts bought in and too much reliability on the animation team, the standard was quite poor. Special mention to Jay the Thomson rep. Great guy, organises a charity quiz at the nearby Diogenis taverna, on a Wednesday night, well worth a night out for a change of scene.

Stayed for a week half board in July. We had a bungalow in the village, ideal with teenagers as an upstairs with double bed, bathroom, and huge balcony with an amazing sea view and a downstairs with twin beds and another bathroom. There was never a problem getting four shady sunbeds around the pool, whatever time of day. Slightly harder at the sandy beach but plenty at the shingle beach. The resort was spotless and never overcrowded despite being fully booked. The rooms were spotless. The food was good but general all inclusive style, it did get a bit samey towards the end of the week. Plenty of choice in town though. And only 6 euros in a taxi. We would return happily, and we never usually go anywhere twice.

Overall, the hotel was average definitely not 5 star, I would rate it at 3.5 maybe pushing 4 star. Our party consisting of 7 adults and 1 baby, have just returned from a 2 week all inclusive stay.
The bedrooms are very spacious inside, however we had 3 adults stay in 1 room, that had a double bed (2 singles pushed together), and the third adult slept on a sofa with bed sheets on it. For the amount that was paid per person this was very disappointing.
Overall the staff let the hotel and the ambience down. Some of them were very rude and their attitude suggested that they didn't care and didn't want to be there. However, a few individuals were very pleasant and could not do enough for you.
The food was disappointing as, for a 5 star hotel in Greece you would expect the food to be full of local dishes, however it lacked imagination. The variety was good if you weren't a vegetarian. A grill was on everyday at lunch and dinner, however the labels failed to specify the meat that was being cooked. When asked, the staff said different meats which was extremely worrying as due to religious reasons I am unable to eat beef so this was concerning.
Beach & Pool
The beach consisted of a 100m stretch of sand which for a 'Beach & Village' hotel this was overly stretching the truth. The infinity swimming pools were very good and were kept very clean.
Overall, if you are looking for a beach holiday, I would not recommend this hotel. There were issues that really let the hotel down and for a 5 star hotel this was very disappointing.

Just returned after a two week all inclusive stay. On arrival our room was not ready so we were upgraded to a mezzaneen for one night but because of this the rest of the holiday we were upgraded to a bungalow with a sea and pool view which was very nice. This was instead of a garden view room in the hotel. All the staff are very friendly and make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
A down side for me would be the food which is all nice but as it caters for everyone so it gets a bit boring after a while, we ate out on about 5 evenings. The only down side on the beverages was that you could only have two half instead of a pint of beer but there was plenty of choice in the way of cocktails .
The rooms and hotel are very clean, the pools are spotless and very nice. The next time I go back I will have a room with a private pool as they looked really nice.
Like most of Ag Nick the hotel and village is set on a hill so lots of stairs and steep slopes not recommended for the disabled and elderly.
One the whole this was the best holiday I have ever had and would return in a flash so take no notice of the negative reviews

Room Tip: Ask for the village instead of the hotel and if you can afford it get a room with private pool

Overall a great holiday. Like most post on here ever one agrees it's not the 5 star you expect. A couple of issues let it down really. 1st been the you can't see me attitude for some not all the staff, when sitting Down for a meal you can be waiting up to 5 mins for your drinks to arrive. 2nd is the entertainment the guys who do the entertainment are a cracking bunch and can't fault there effort but at the end of the day it's just poor. Over all a great place unsure if I would go back or not.

Overall it was excellent!

- We stayed in a bungalow, lovely views of the sea and harbour from our balcony
- Food was definitely right up there with the best at any AI we have stayed at previously. Loads of choice and all very well prepared
- We arrived early hours, very welcome sandwiches and drinks left in our room
- Staff were, on the whole, excellent. As with everywhere there were a few that let the side down, but the majority were very customer focussed
- rooms were very spacious and immaculately cleaned every day
- 2 pools, a quiet one in the village part of the complex where we went to every day and a more lively one down by the beach area. Loads of lounges, never any hassle getting one irrespective of what time you went down
- bar areas / lounges, again plenty of different areas and never any trouble in getting a seat. Pool bar was very good and drinks always available
- restaurant was easy to get a seat (but see also negatives)
- mini bar restocked every day ( non-alcoholic drinks)

Negatives: not too many, but some things deserve comment

- WiFi might be free but it is also appalling. Constantly dropping out, slow, and required a sign in approx every 5 mins. An especial irritation to our 17 year old daughter (and therefore us ;-) )
- not for anyone with a disability, loads of steps and steep inclines. Didn't trouble us, but would be a problem to anyone with a mobility issue
- biggest problem by far was seating at dinner. There are about 6 tables which directly overlook the bay and provide a great panorama whilst eating. However, they are for EITHER parties of 4+ OR those who weren't AI (prob about 25%) As such we weren't allowed to sit there and the once we tried ( we sat at a table for 4 and there were 3 of us) we were brusqely asked to move, whilst a couple of non-AI guests were then seated there! Not good..........

All in all though, a place we thoroughly recommend, the positives far outweigh the bits where improvements can - and should - be made.

Just one other quick point, there are lots of " New Germans" aka Russians at the hotel. I simply can't believe that their general rudeness is a "cultural difference" they are just downright ignorant! We've experienced this practically everywhere we've encountered them, no fault of the hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - some of the garden views are apparently very poor. We were in 761, great views

My partner and family stayed at Mirabello from 13th July until 27th. We all had a pleasent stay and couldn't fault anything at all.

The food was pretty good considering we stayed all inclusive, there was choice of cereals, fried breakfast, continental and other items at breakfast, lunch you could choose from eating at the pool bar where chicken nuggets, pizza, fish fingers etc were served or in the resturant. In the evening there was always something to choose from, lots of choice for us. The cake were incredible.

The pool was quiet the whole time we were there. we did not have to fight for a sunbed in the morning.

The beach was lovely, we did not use the sunbeds on the beach as they were always full. It was nice to go in the sea and come back up to the pool though.

You can collect fresh beach towels everyday from the beach.

As we stayed all inclusive some of the local alcohol was not very nice - but all in all it was ok - we did end up going out for drinks for a few nights though.

Entertainment team were awful - during the day they seemed unmotivated and in the evening especially when they did there own animation team shows were even more awful - they did not know the words to the musical grease?? (miming is awful). on a saturday night they have a dj by the beach bar - by far the best night they do there - well worth going. Both saturday nights we were there it was themed so one saturday a white party and the following black and white.

The rest of the staff in the hotel were super kind, very approachable and helpful.

The hotel doe not have much around it, there is an olive oil farm 2 minuites away from the hotel - well worth checking out - family run bussiness (Cretan Olive oil Farm)

Its 6 euros for a taxi from the hotel into Agios Nikolaos where there are many returants, bars and shops. We used the taxis alot - just get in them outside the hotel.

The hotel all in all was good enough for us, we had a brilliant two week holiday and would recommend it. Good standard and choice of food, clean and chilled environment.

Paying extra for a sea view room is definatly worth it.

The pictures on the websites do not do the hotel any justice!
