“don't go alone they will not sit you”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

If you go alone you will not be sited!! It happened to me on Sunday July 31 at 9 pm. Too bad for me because their food is reportedly very good but also too bad for them since I plan to hit the social media hard with this. Unacceptable!!

“Greek food with a twist”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

Fed up with 'Greek salad' and souvlaki..? Try the wonderful Portes run by a greek and irish couple, their Food is different.. creative.. adventurous - and also traditional. Try stuffed mushroom starter, Cretan pie or indeed the moussakas - all the mess removed - just pure taste! Incomparable value and eating experience.

“Best meal in Chania by a country mile!”
Reviewed 4 August 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I went to Portes on our recent visit to Chania and had a fantastic meal. We had tzatziki and Greek salad to start with, by far, the best complimentary bread we had (not the dry white bread we usually got). I then had the seafood souvlaki with green salad, which was beautifully cooked and extremely tasty (my taste buds are still watering) and my boyfriend had the tuna steak which came with beans, tomato and feta in a light pesto sauce. Together with a couple of beers each the whole bill was about 40 euros- cheaper than we'd had elsewhere in Chania and infinitely tastier. Can't recommend this place enough!

“Come here rather than the waterfront, you won't regret it”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

Excellent food from this lovely place tucked up against the inside of the walls of Chania old town, definitely worth the short walk up from the waterfront and its succession of unremarkable touristy offerings. The lamb in yoghurt was particularly good. Prices are reasonable and portions generous.

“The best restaurant in Chania”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

The food was delicious, we liked it so much we ate there 3 times in one week. It's family run, and the owner and family were really friendly and helpful.
