The restaurant Is located in a really nice side street with grape ranks as a roof. The staff is really pleasant compared to the exceptionally annoying staff along the waterfront.

The food is very nice, and they have nice local beers (microbrewery in Chania) and wine, and it's good value for your money.

Worth a visit.

No need for cajoling here, the tables are full and that is because the quality of the food speaks for itself. This is a family run business, where the culinary skills have been passed down through the generations. This is Greek food at its very best. We have eaten at all three of these tavernas in this street and rate this the highest and it will be the only place we plan to return.

We were told that this is what the name means, and it certainly was, despite being along a small lane, probably because it's not that heavily used - although at the end of some of the more pleasant backstreets of the old town southwest of the harbour. It is a little way from the harbour but miles away from being badgered to eat, with friendly and helpful staff. Food was very good, with the usual large portions, and rather cheaper than eating in the more touristy spots.
We sat for a little while and never felt pressured to leave. If we'd have been staying nearby we'd definitely have returned.

Moutoupaki is a bit off the beaten path about 5 min. up from the port but worth ever step. The setting is along a cobblestoned street, sheltered from the sun by a wonderful arbor. We ate at night so had the addition of a full moon, blooming bougainvillea and mild temperatures.
The food is fresh from fish to vegetables to the bread.
The service was attentive, friendly and prompt. And the food was excellent! We went twice, once for lunch & once for dinner. We had various fish and lamb meals. All were cooked to perfection.
And the owners were involved, working, but most of all kind and attentive.
You gotta try it....Mike C

Avoid some of the tourist traps in the harbour area and within minutes you will discover a great restaurant where you can sit outside and not feel you are in a thoroughfare. The service is so friendly and luckily not one of these places where you feel you are being pressurised to sit down and eat. Food was delicious and we had a lovely lunch. There is a good selection of food and wine and it really is a relaxing place. There are lots of restaurants in this town but this is the place we would recommend for authentic Greek food and wine. The waitress was very knowledgeable about their Cretan wines and we made the right choice with her help.
