Set back from a popular street this restaurant was an absolute gem! Owners and staff were polite, friendly and accommodating and not too busy to stop and chat making our visit very welcoming. Food was superb, perfect portion sizes and incredible flavour - due to both the cooking process and the quality of ingredients (we were shown some of the cuts of meat - wow).
The house wine (red) was one of the best we tried throughout Chania but beware of the dessert wine.......very, very strong!!!

Thank you to all at Xani for a perfect evening!

Located in a picturesque street in Old Town, To Xani is a beautiful restaurant that serves traditional Cretan food! The building is at least 700 years old and the food is made in old clay pots - no doubt making the food taste even better! Greek food is meant to be shared, so you can taste several different dishes. The best way is to order food worth a certain amount(i.e €20 pr.person) and let the restaurant decide what to serve. To put it differently, we came back 3 times during 7 days!

Enjoy!

In Greece we traditionally share the food which is on the table--it's a nice idea for our customers to do the same. For 20 euros one has a big meal ! We also have many returning customers, as you yourselves are. Thank you.

We visited Chania last year and visited To Xani and had a delicious meal - so much so we had another meal there before we left the area. The staff were so friendly and advised us on several meal choices. The atmosphere is amazing - there are obviously a lot of returning customers - which doesn't surprise me.
We found this restaurant purely by chance - so glad we did.
We are returning to Chania again this May and we will be visiting again.
Look forward to seeing you all !!

After reading so many good reviews on the Tripadvisor, we decided to try it out.

I think this restaurant had one of the most interesting menus in Chania. Even though it is still quite traditional Cretan (with some inspiration from other cultures), there were a number of dishes I have not seen elsewhere.

The starters were delicious. My husband had well seasoned and tasty meatballs, and I had pies with mountain greens and cheese which were sensational. We decided to be a bit adventurous for the mains, and ordered goat meat and chestnut Stifado. The goat was really good, and chestnut stifado was good as well (much better than we expected), a bit Christmassy somehow.

The restaurant is small, but nice, the service was good. Well worth the visit.
