“Nice view and close to center”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We booked this room for our 3 day stay in Chania.
Close to center, with a good breakfast.

Great view from balcony and very friendly receptionist.
Good choice to spend some days there.

Price was normal for city hotel.

This is a good choice hotel and is only 20 minutes or so from the airport and before you get into the main town which is only another 7 to 8 minutes walk away. It was modern, and clean and arriving on the late flight from Gatwick it was ideal and easy to find. There are little shops and restaurants a few minutes away. Breakfast was good in a nice modern dining area but with the option to take out side into a courtyard area. The bar was still open and the reception staff exceedingly friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Probably a sea view choice although it will be overlooking the road.

The hotel is centrally located. 10 minutes walk to the old city and the harbour. I stayed off season.
Very helpful and friendly lady at the reception checked me in and made some very good recommendations for dinner.

Room on fourth floor had a fantastic view of the sea an dteh harbour. Room was spacious.
Most hotel rooms in Greece smell somewhat of smoke no matter if you ask for a non smoking room. Ash trays are maintained in the rooms. Bath room well appointed. Small balcony with a great view. I found the bed uncomfortable (could feel the springs).

Walked for dinner to old town. Walked to a nice movie thetre 5 min away from the hotel.

Breakfast buffet was great- in quality and variety. They only pity is that they don't serve fresh orange juice at a time when 10 kg oranges are locally sold for Euro 2,50.

Parked car outside the hotel, very convenient. Seamless check out.

Room Tip: Request a sea facing room on a higher floor.

We stayed for 3 night at Irida hotel and we enjoy it. The staff was friendly, the room were spotless and the breakfast was tasty (I loved the bread sticks with sunflower seeds!!!). We had a room with a nice sea view.

Although it's not located in the port, the hotel is really close to the center and is right by the sea. It took us around 10 minutes to get from Irida to the Harbor area by foot.

The only downside will be the fact that the hotel is situated on a busy road, but the rooms have proper PVC windows and as soon as you close them you won't be distracted by outside noises.

Room Tip: Our sea view rooms was nice, but I think it would be better if we stayed to the 3th or 4th floor.

We stayed here for 4 days in October as a short break from work and it was just ideal.
Great position over looking the sea, only a 5 minute very pleasant waterside walk to the town and the staff were so friendly. Our room was clean had a little balcony which we used every morning and evening. Breakfast was very good and all the public areas clean bright and with great views. We will certainly return during the off season month of October next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea views and a balcony.

We stayed here for one week and we enjoyed it. The room is small, but very clean (which is something that we are particularly interested in when traveling) and we had a room with a little balcony overseeing the sea, which turn out to be very useful during the evenings when we needed a few minutes for refreshment. The staff is nice, I think what they could improve is the variety of choices for the breakfast. They had the exact same thing each and every morning, luckily, the other restaurants on the island are absolutely great! Oh! they also have some parking spaces in front of the hotel, but these are not quite enough, so you may want to be prepared to search for some spot for the car..Other than that, it feels good to wake up and have overlook the sea!

We had a very good break in Chania but have very mixed feelings about the hotel coloured a great deal by the room we were allocated and a problem with the air conditioning.

We arrived at the Irida late in the evening and were checked in by a non-English speaking receptionist. Tired and hungry and without directions (we could not make oureselves understood when we asked the receptionist where the nearest taverna was) we missed the road to the waterfront where another guest suggested we went. In desperation we had to settle for a cafe near the hotel where the food was very poor indeed. Not a good start.

Our room was very small indeed and overlooked a roof on which building work was being carried out - not a pretty sight. We had asked for a sea view but were told all were occupied, even though the hotel did not seem very busy. The balcony was barely big enough for the 2 chairs and table stacked on one side of it and it was very uncomfortable to sit there, so we hardly used this. Furthermore the air conditioning was not working in the room. When we complained about this our complaint was not managed well as we were promised it would be repaired by the next day which it wasn't. We had 2 sleepless nights in the stifling heat before the repair was carried out, made worse as the room was so small.

The breakfast consisted of processed meats and cheese; sickly sweet orange squash; tired scrambled eggs and pastries. There were also fresh fruit, cereals, and boiled eggs (if you could catch them before they ran out), which was a better, if not rather limited, option. The staff would boil extra eggs if you asked but this took time. You could also ask for freshly squeezed orange juice at an extra cost.

The hotel looked smart from the outside and the lounge and bar area were comfortable, fresh and contemporary. The 'garden' was very small indeed and was situated next to the car park.

The position of the hotel was on the edge of the town and it took 15- 20 mins to walk in. A pleasant walk along the waterfront but quite a step when returning after eating out in the evenings. Also if you have a problem with dogs you should know that the coastal walk into town goes through a small park which is the meeting place for dogs and their owners each night and gives rather a seedy feel to the place.

When presented with our bill we asked for a reduction not having air conditioning on the first 2 nights and were given a very very small one.

We loved Chania but will not be returning to this hotel.

There is a lovely taverna set on the shore about 10 minutes walk from the hotel (walking in the opposite direction to the town). The setting alone makes this a must.

A car is essential if you want to visit beaches. The nearest and best we felt was Kavalas. An attraction for us here was the taverna which served amazing food. Don't be put off by the rather ramshackle appearance - all the effort goes into the quality of the food.

A plus side of the hotel, it has to be said, was the high level of cleanliness - fresh clean towels and linen each day and the bathroom was always spotless. The cleaning staff are a credit to the hotel. However the bar staff working in the dining area frequently left tables uncleared at breakfast We often cleared a table ouselves in order to sit by a window.

Room Tip: Choose a room that overlooks the sea and get confirmation of this in writing.
