we visit Hania approx. 6 times a year and stay at this hotel every time. It was always a happy place to stay but the rooms were rather tired until a major refit during the last winter. Now rooms are clean and trendy and the beds are the most comfortable I have ever experienced (thanks to cocomat). The staff remain friendly and welcoming and the breakfast is really good now. Nothing would make us choose a different hotel for our stays.

The hotel has just completed a total, professional renovation and everything is sparkling new. Bathrooms, bedding and furnishings are of top quality. Our room was of a good size but not large. Nice balcony with panoramic view of the bay. Excellent breakfast included in the price. The hotel is on the waterfront but away from the bars and restaurants which open until the early hours of the morning. A taxi can take you right to the front door. The following is a comment and not a critic ……. close the door of your room and you could be in a hotel in any capital city in Europe. The décor is of a high quality, standard, international style, that is, nothing that will tell you that you are in Crète. But once you open the door to your balcony, you know that you are in a beautiful Grecian town. Friendly smiling staff did everything to make our stay perfect. For the quality of the hotel with breakfast included, the price is not expensive.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra money to have a room with a view.

This is a great hotel. I stayed there one night and was very satisfied. I arrived in Chania from Sougia around 9:00am and was offered free breakfast and luggage storage at no cost - the official check in time is either 11:00 or noon - something one never gets in the US. When I came back to the hotel around noon time, my room was ready. I had a nice room on the top floor with the beautiful sea view of the Old Venetian port. The hotel was renovated in winter and everything looked brand new. The staff at the reception and breakfast area was so friendly and accommodating that I would not mind to extend my stay there for more. If I land in Chania again, I will stay at Porto Veneziano again.

Room Tip: Top floor looking at the port is the best for the view

We booked this hotel for a 6 stay that we intended to use as a base for day trip in and around the area. We had stayed in this hotel several years ago and was attracted to it because of its location and sea view. At that time the hotel was outdated but comfortable. The hotel has been completely renovated in 2013 and it very beautiful. The rooms are very nicely appointed, roomy and well furnished. The beds are very comfortable, unlike many Greek hotels. The staff is very friendly, efficient and will to attend to a guests needs. Kristina at the front desk is an outstanding asset to the staff is very helpful in providing travel recommendations, information and assistance. There is parking in the rear of the hotel if you have a car. There is a nice bar in the hotel and a nice garden courtyard. The breakfasts are very good in both food selection and quality. The wait staff is very good and efficient.

We plan to stay again at this hotel in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room. The sunsets are spectacular.

The front desk gave us a warm welcome when we arrived the hotel by walking from the bus station. She efficiently helped us with the check-in, Internet access, and our inquiries on various local tours.
When we walked into the newly renovated sea-view room, we felt so lucky that we have chosen Porto Veneziano during our 4-day vacation in Chania. The room was compact but cozy, with a lovely balcony from which we can see the lighthouse and beautiful Chania port. During our stay, all the drinks and snacks in the minibar were free as complimentary service.
The variety of food served during breakfast was quite rich, and we enjoyed our meals with view of the port and fresh morning air in the restaurant at the ground floor.
The hotel also provided free parking right behind its main building. It's really convenient for those who would like to drive around the island.

Room Tip: The room had everything we need, but after opening our suitcases (both were 27-inch big) in the room...

This hotel has a 3* rating officially but don't get fooled by that. It's a good 4* in all they do: rooms, breakfast, service. We've stayed in one of their suites which was equipped with everything one can ask for and the view from the balcony was to die for.
The hotel has bikes to rent for free which we did every day to go to the beach at Nea Akti. They also provide beach towels which is a nice extra service.
I must mention that the staff of the hotel were friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome. Special thanks to Katerina on the front desk for her friendly - at the same time professional and efficient service.
Anybody looking for a quality accommodation in the old Venetian harbour, this is the place to go.

Room Tip: Go for a room with sea view. It's worth every penny.
