“Beautiful town house in a perfect location”
Reviewed 27 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Me and my partner stayed here for 2 weeks in August and loved it! So much so we have already emailed Gail and booked up again for next year. Gail was very helpful before we got there, quick email responses and detailed information on how to get there, how to get the key from its nifty little locker etc. Keith met us the next day to give more information on restaurants and where's good to go.

The house is located on a lovely residential street, where we felt as though we were one of them during our stay. They were all so friendly, even saying bye when we left. The walk from the house to the harbour is about 15minutes but that's through streets with shops and restaurants, and so feels like 2 minutes. Or you could go the other direction to the harbour and pass the square of bars and then past many more bars and restaurants where the Greek locals were.
We loved being this close to everything as in the past we have always had to get taxis to the 'main' part or had to walk miles. For some reason before we left, we thought this town was going to be quiet and sleepy but were pleasantly surprised by how lively and busy it all was. I can't say it'd be the same for other times of the year, but we loved it. Weirdly though, there's just barely any noise at all when at the house, even if you sit on the rooftop.
There is a supermarket that is well stocked just literally around the corner. 2minute walk.

The house itself is beautifully finished and feels unique with a personality. It feels homely, a lot of thought has gone into it to make it liveable for the guests. Such as the little mat thats at the door of the roof terrace, we didnt realise we'd need it until we went to go downstairs and our feet were wet. Or in a white dress and eating lasagne, "theres an apron in that drawer". Just little things like that. The kitchen is well equipped for making your own meals, which we did so a few times. One tip I'd give though is that the oven is probably a little colder than what the dial says, so go higher than normal. We were happy to see that the cupboards had the likes of oils, sugar, salt, pepper etc. We spent a few evenings on the roof terrace. The terrace has lights (which we didn't realise before going) but we also bought tealight candles for the Cretan lanterns, as well as bringing our own fairy lights from home. Very pretty. The stairs to the roof terrace are a little steep and you have to watch you don't bump your head. Not so much a problem for us, but may be for some, especially coming down them as there's nothing to hold onto for the last 3 stairs.
The bed is a kingside and quite firm. We had ok sleep throughout our stay, the houses facing us was getting renovated so dot on 8am the drills, scrubbing, tile cutting would begin. This can't be helped though, was just unlucky timing for us so we didn't mind. There was earplugs in the bedside drawer.
We had a hire car for the 2weeks and there was always somewhere nearby to park, we usually parked by the supermarket. If we were ever caught out for parking, there's a car park a stones throw up the street, I can't remember for sure but it was something like 1.4€ for 3 hours and after 9pm it was free until 7am. The Saturday market runs up the street with the supermarket on and up into the carpark so bare this in mind.
Crete in August is obviously going to be hot, and we knew this, but must admit, we were so hot all of the time and AC would have been a godsend. Keith kindly supplied us with a desktop fan but we just had to buy an additional fan because getting ready and drying/straightening hair was unbearable sometimes. I think the nature of all the houses close together makes it a sun trap. This was our only issue with the townhouse, but don't let that put you off, it hasn't put us off staying again :)

“Just what we needed!”
Reviewed 17 October 2012 for a stay in October 2012

As we live rurally in North Wales, UK, we sought a town/city accomodation to enable us to come and go as we pleased, but be near to the facilities for eating out and sightseeing. This rental fitted the bill perfectly!
Gail was extremely helpful both prior to and during our visit. The property was clean, convenient and in a very quiet location considering it's proximity to bars and cafes.
We had a great week strolling throught the lovely alleys and visiting the museums, eating and drinking and generally chilling out in the welcoming Cretan atmosphere that surrounded everywhere we went.
We were pleasantly surprised by the weather as it was above the average for October - making the coolness of the house and the bedroom ceiling fan very welcoming at times. The bed was very comfortable and the house was furnished in a way to provide practically everything you needed. Above all it was lovely to sit out, in privacy, on the roof terrace, though for serious sun-bathers a couple of sunbeds and an umbrella would not go amiss!
Thoroughly recommended if you want the option of self-catering together with the freedom and convenience of local fare.

My boyfriend and me spent a week in this beautiful town, renting this venetian style house close to the harbour, on one of the narrow streets of the old part of the town.
Gail, the owner was really helpful, giving us extra information about the place.
The house is brand new, however, its old-style furniture makes the place unique and comfortable. The fully-equipped kitchen and the roof-terrace contribute to unforgettable dinners. The house is just behind a square where the bars and cafes are conquered by cretens so you can absolutely blend with the locals.
You can find some of the best restaurants and bars in the town only from ten minutes walking from the apartment.
If you are a couple it is the place that you can't miss.
