My husband and I stayed at the Casa Delfino during our visit to Crete in August of 2010. It was our honeymoon and the staff was careful to make it as special as possible. When we got to our room we received a lovely congratulatory card and a bottle of wine, which we finished with some sweets from the area.

Our room was amazing, a loft-style apartment suite with the bed on the second story and a comfortable sitting room below. Our bathroom was unfortunately small, just a sink, toilet, and shower. It was definitely too tight for two people but it was modern and well adorned.

Breakfast at the hotel was delicious and full of pastries. The hotel was in a central location and we enjoyed roaming the streets, visiting all the shops, and having fantastic food just around the corner.

Crete was probably our favorite island during our honeymoon and the Casa Delfino helped make it so. Thank you for such a memorable visit and a beautiful time.

Casa Delfino was our first stop on the Honeymoon of dreams and absolutely lovely in every way. We had a pretty one bedroom apartment that looked out onto the courtyard with a peek-a-boo view of the sea for 3 night. This was honestly more space than we needed, and cost more than we would typically spend, but since this hotel was the only one in Chania represented by our travel agent we went for it. In hindsight, we could have gone with one of the less pricy places in town- there are tons of hotels there and I would have enjoyed Chania even without the hotel's fancy antiques and marble decor, but the service was impeccable, location was excellent, breakfast was delicious and the roof patio was spectacular.
We didn't know anyone who had been to Crete and had several questions but I emailed with the concierges to set up excursions and a rental car and each time they were extremely helpful and thorough which eased my mind.
When we checked in we received a map of the town and the sweet woman (I wish I remembered her name) circled areas for shopping, restaurants, bars and cafes and made tons of recommendations. When we set out we still got totally lost in the winding (and sometimes unnamed) streets and alleys, but that was part of the fun. Our excursions went smoothly and were exciting and beautiful (Balos Bay, Samaria Gorge, Rethymnon and a drive across the northern coast) and the food on this island is to die for.
Chania is so incredibly charming and the perfect jumping off point to explore Western and Central Crete, we stayed so busy that we really didn't take enough time to enjoy the hotel, but we slowed down and had a glass of wine on the rooftop during sunset on the first night and the view really can't be beat.

Fabulous hotel. An old Venetian mansion and right in the heart of the old city. Loved it. Only gripe is you cannot park anywhere near the hotel, but in retrospect it was not a problem as the hotel staff carried all the bags to and from the car. Its about a ten minute walk.

Excellent experience! Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for luxury accommodation in the middle of the old town. The staff were extremely helpful and the recommendations they made for restaurants and places to go were excellent. The breakfast was made from organic products and served in a very cosy courtyard. The only negative point was that the sauna and jacuzzi were not available for free.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room.

We stayed at the Casa Delfino for 7 nights in September 2013. The courtyard and roof terrace were very attractive, the breakfasts were really nice and the staff were excellent. However ... it was not a 5 star experience. Our room (number 1) was right on the courtyard and very noisy. Other guests would sit at the table outside our room (about 1 metre from our door!) and make very loud phone calls in the middle of the night. We did not get one good night of sleep in the whole 7 nights we were there. The room was OK, but it was certainly not luxurious and I have not seen that particular room featured in any of the website details. The bed was very soft and we kept rolling into the middle, which we did not expect from a 5 star hotel. There was a curved staircase down to another room with a sofabed and wardrobe and the shower room. These marble stairs proved to be quite hazardous in the middle of the night when going to the bathroom! We are a couple in our sixties, so not ancient, but we found the stairs very slippery. There were also no drawers for clothes. The shower room (no bath) was quite small but adequate. To have a shower was a challenge as when the shower curtain was drawn it was dark and difficult to see anything. The water pressure was very low so showering took a very long time. There was no extending shaving mirror and the mirror above the basin was so far away it was impossible for my husband to see to shave. This hotel trades on also being a Spa, but in fact the Spa is not manned and any treatments required must be booked 24 hours in advance.
Having said all this, we did have a good holiday and the room was OK. From our experience it would definitely not rate it as a 5 star, or even 4 star. It was way over-priced for what it offered and what we received.
I would suggest to anyone staying at the Casa Delfino that they avoid rooms 1 and 2 which lead out onto the courtyard.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 1 and 2 which are directly on the courtyard.

I must say the hotel itself was beautiful, and the staff could not of been more helpful. The one issue I did have with the Presidential Suite was the noise below from the kids. Starting at about 8:30am and ending with what seemed like never, every day we were woken up by kids playing, and yelling, and screaming. So if you want to take a midday nap, like we enjoy too, good luck. Besides for that though, everything was lovely and we would definitely go back, just not book that room in the summertime, when kids are off of school.
