My husband Charles and I can't say enough wonderful things about the graciousness of the staff and accommodations at Casa Delfino Hotel & Spa. We spent the first three days of our honeymoon in Athens and arrived in Chania very tired and hungry late at night. From the moment we walked off the plane and were greeted by our personal taxi driver, we knew we were in for a treat. Our two-story apartment-style room (#5) was spacious and had the most comfortable bed. The morning breakfast served in the courtyard by sweet Dina and the staff, with homemade treats from the owner's family, was a wonderful way to begin each day. The rest of the staff - Panos, Vasia, Stella, Manu, George, the kind bartender (apologies for forgetting his name) - were top-notch in providing personalized services, restaurant recommendations, excursion advice, etc. They function like a small family and treat their guests with much care and kindness. They assisted us in booking a walking tour of the Old Town, renting a car and mapping out drives to less-crowded beaches, making daily restaurant reservations, and even taking a day trip to Santorini (be warned, this was a hectic and crazy day - stay in peaceful Crete!). We also took advantage of the spa, with couples massages and full use of the steam room/hydrotherapy pool right there on the premises. Margarita does a great job of checking in with her guests to ensure everything is to your liking.

Crete is a wonderful destination and Chania, in particular, is one of those places that takes days to fully explore. We definitely plan to return, as there is much more that we'd like to see all around the island. Casa Delfino is the perfect home base and a true five-star experience. Enjoy the old-world hospitality!

Room Tip: Rooms not directly on the courtyard are probably quieter.

We stayed for 5 nights. The hotel is in the pedestrian only area of town a couple minutes walk from the harbor. You park a few minutes away and they come to get your luggage in a golf cart. I believe it was originally a Venetian mansion.

The staff was very helpful in arranging our itineraries. Particularly Margarita, the owner, who helped us with various things vi text even on her day off.

There is a rooftop bar with a view of the harbor (see photo) and a spa that my wife enjoyed.

It seems that there is a significant mix of room types. We booked last minute and spent the first 4 nights on the ground floor (room 3). While the room is nice and has a desperate smaller bedroom that is convenient for children, it opens on the courtyard where breakfast is served such that if you’re sensitive to noise you might be woken up. The 5th night we stayed in the executive suite (I believe room 25), which was comfortable and quiet, but does not have a harbor view.

In sum, a comfortable base, but the real highlight of the stay was all of the help and good advice in arranging our time.
