One of the grandest hotels we have ever stayed in. The rooms are very clean, the service excellent. Out of town, but on the no. 11 bus route, near the sea, with excellent rooftop views, especially the sunset. Worth staying at.

Room Tip: We were in a standard room, no.212. No scenic view, but good security.

Our stay was made by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (particularly George, Maria and Michael). Breakfast was very samey over two weeks! Hotel was spotless. Decor colonial and interior rather sombre. Classic music throughout. Lovely front garden spoiled a bit by traffic noise. The walk into town was around 15 minutes and and had lovely sea views. But be careful where you tread! There's a lot of stray dogs (and cats) in Chania. Best trips were to Botanical Gardens, drives in the mountains (George knows some lovely places) and Aptari (ruins); even my 19 year old son loved all of these. Wonderful tennis courts (again, see George!). We never had one bad Cretan meal, but do NOT go to Veneto Italian restaurant in Chania; complete rip-off.

Room Tip: Second floor old building are wonderful, others are standard

We stayed 4 nights from 2/10/2013 to 5/10/2013 inclusive.Everything excellent.Hotel is a little distant from town centre but walk quite feasible and pleasant and there is also a bus service-never really got my head around the bus route but an adventure!
The Halepa neighbourhood is well worth exploring- some wonderful old residential and industrial (leather) buildings including a home of the Greek Premier Eleftherios Venizelos which was unfortunately closed for renovations. This neighbourhood also has a very good seafood restaurant called Thalassino Ageri. You can even eat on the cove there.
Back to the Hotel-also an historic building. Very personable staff. We were given an upgrade. I would also like to compliment the Halepa on their laundry service.A reviewer( possibly on another site? ) described it as limited! My experience was as follows:
They laundered 8 pairs of socks, 8 underwear,5 T-shirts,2 shirts and 2 trousers for only €12.00 and back promptly the following day.
Finally,as an Irishman abroad in coffee climes, I can offer no higher praise than this: tea, glorious tea (with milk) was available at this hotel.Halepa Hotel- you guys were great and we would love to come back sometime.

We had a very enjoyable week's stay here. Slightly out of town, it was no problem to walk into the harbour area in the evenings. Occasionally we took a taxi back which was incredibly 5 Euros.
Our room was very clean, overlooking the side of the hotel. It was comfortable, with plenty of space.
Breakfasts were more than enough for our needs. Reception staff were exceedingly helpful and polite, The hotel is set in a beautiful garden and has an interesting history. The restaurants in the town were very good and offered a range of dishes and prices.

This is a fabulous little hotel. Very welcoming. Very stately. Very comfortable. The staff is wonderful, the breakfasts great. There are gardens and a roof terrace. The location is nice. Easy walks to town. Parking. Comfy rooms and beds. We loved it. Even the mix of toruists is interesting, Lots of hiking groups. CLASSY!!!!!

Room Tip: Costs 2 euro/day to use the front desk safe. Beers were a bit pricey. Rooms were all quiet.

Halepa was a nice place to stay away from the hustle of old town. Be prepared to walk 45mins though to get to a decent beach, and 25mins to get to restaurants. My wife and I spent six nights there and love walking so halepa was great for us. Big plus, the breakfast was really good!
