This place looks great from the front and the reception area is extremely pleasing but travel to the new wing at the back and it is like walking through a filmset into the yard behind. The rooms in the new wing could not be plainer or less uninspiring and it is incredible to think that the designer got these plans accepted. The few rooms in the old house are nice but there are many as nice rooms in other hotels at far less money. The bathroom was the smallest I'd ever seen other than being on the train.
If you book into the old wing make sure you do not have a room on the east as there are two dogs next door who bark all evening, all night and all the next morning.
The Sun area on the roof had not been cleaned for the season albeit it was now after the middle of May and the Jacuzzi/spa was a stagnant pool of green water. This is simply laziness and shoddy management.
The breakfast room was quite pleasant although due to the high density of tables and chairs squeezed into it it was almost impossible to get to a table without disturbing someone on the way through.More
