There were some nice examples of cretan embroidery with no explanation. Mostly, however, the space was full of handicrafts for sale. Some of the items were nice but that wasn't what I was looking for.

A small eclectic collection showing living conditions and artefacts from years gone by.

The museum seems to be the private collection of two ladies, who are on hand to answer questions.

There is no widespread advertising but it is located off the entrance to the Catholic Church, opposite the Cathedral, on the main street through the old town going down to the harbour.

€2 per person well spent!

We didn't actually go looking for this, but stumbled across it while looking into the courtyard of the Catholic Church.

It's an interesting exhibition of various things from Crete's past, worth sending 30 or 40 minutes at.

This is the place to get your museum replicas of your favorite ceramic goddesses and bird headed figures. There are also excellent embroideries and scale models of old British ships.

Not easy to find, but worth to visit. You can see living conditions and culture of cretans just for 2 euro per person.
