The food was superb. We recommend the sardines wrapped in vine leaves, the fava, the aliada dip (potato and cod--WOW) and the grilled octopus. But no matter what you order, it's all delicious. The house wine is incredible. After dinner, request the sweet wine in lieu of raki--it's amazing. The service is spectacular. We visited Glossitses twice while in Chania, and our server, Manos, was the best. He sat and visited with us both times (his English is flawless). He recommended good places to go afterwards. We will be back!

A very pleasant restaurant with an island feeling. Pleasant, attentive service but also rushed and hurried. Orders arrive at the tables as they are ready from the kitchen regardless if it's an appetizer or main course, so, if you prefer a more relaxed dining experience ask your server to bring out the order as you like.
The aliada garlic spread with salted cod is excellent as well as the manouropita, the tsiros. The "mpougiourdi", a combination of green peppers, tomatoes and melted feta should be listed as a "soup" due to it's watery consistency.. The pasta with fruit of the sea is great as well as the risotto with cream and mastic oil.
The sardines wrapped in grape vine leaves, normally a delicious food were unsuccessful. The sardines were tasteless and the grape leaves tough and dry.

Within 10 days that we stayed in Chania, it was the only fish tavern that we visited twice... We were very satisfied both times from the service and the hospitality of the staff. Food was very well cooked. Don't miss to order: Risotto with sepia and ink of sapia (teh portion is bid and enough for 2 persons - cost 14,00€), Sword-fish or tuna grilled (fresh cought), excellent fresh squid (grilled) and as appetizers: fava salad, tsiros salad. Of course, you will find there the odoriferous OUZO APALARINA. I left as a tip the picturesque view (when sunset). Recommended....

There are many restaurants lining Chania's pitcuresque harbourside. Most serve seafood, and generally standards are quite high. But Glossitses (the name means 'little tongue) stands out from the crowd in many ways.

You'll find it at almost the far Eastern end of the harbour front, and I heartily recommend that you do so.

We had sublime fava beans (served with caramelised onions and fresh, home made pitta bread) followed by fresh cod, beautifully cooked and served with a puree of hazelnuts and garlic. Quite a revelation. The fresh mussels (choose from options cooked in wine or beer) were as good as any I've eaten in high temples of mussel eating like Cornwall and Brittany.

Friendly service, very reasonable prices - and an enticingly different menu we just want to go and try again and again. Enough said?
