Our family party of 9 covered 3 generations including 4 year old twins and a 5 month old baby. We have just experienced a wonderful holiday in Crete and this is mainly due to our good fortune in choosing to stay at the 4 bedroom villa owned and run by Helen and Mike.
I can heartily endorse all the high praise and all the complimentary reviews that have preceded this one. I would also like to add that for us this was a perfect holiday home and we would like to thank Helen again for her support and, not least, her baking and supply of home produced olive oil and wine!

My family and I stayed at the old fountain villas for a total of 3 weeks. The villa was absolutely beautiful, located in the quiet village of Galatas, 10 minute drive from the port city of Chania and 5 mins from Kalamaki beach. The owners, Helen and Mike, were very hospitable and friendly. The view from the balcony of the villa was incredible, to the north was the sea and the port of Chania, to the east were orange groves and olive trees, and to the south were the mountains. The villa was very clean and modern with all the necessary amenities you need, the yard was well manicured and the pool was a great place to relax when not at the beach. The villa was located in a quaint and quiet spot, occasionally you can here the roosters and goats, and you can watch the eagle flying in the valley. Chania and the surrounding area has a lot of great things to offer and see. In the town of Galatas there are a few tavernas with great traditional local food, unlike the tourist areas. The villa and the town of galata were a relatively close to some of the most highly ranked beaches in Europe such as: Balos, Falassarna and Efalonissi. If you are looking for and alternative to a hotel, and looking to experience Cretan life for a while, I definitely recommend Old Fountain Villas, it was great!!!

Thanks you Helen and Mike, hope to see you again soon!

Sincerely,

Paul Telefoglou

We stayed in villa Dimitrios. Set back from the other 2 villas, the views are spectacular, the pool perfect, the villa immaculate and the owners incredibly hospitable. We will definitely be back. This part of Crete was our favourite. Restaurants 5 mins away by car literally on the waters edge. Beautiful.

We stayed in the 2 bed villa at the end of June/ beginning of July. There are 3 villas on the farmland down a private track, so its very peaceful and secluded, but still close to Galatas a village nearby and 10 minutes drive to Chania (which has a beautiful marina and old town quarter). The villa does adjoin the 3 bed villa at the end of the garden but is still very private from this villa due to the clever planting and placement of the pools at opposite ends of each villa. The villa had a fantastic view of the sea, olive grove farmland, mountains and the surrounding hills and only 5 minutes drive to the nearest beach and facilities.
The owners are lovely and greeted us with home made olive oil, Raki, wine and baked sweet bread and they rescued us when we got slightly lost on the first day finding the villa!
The villa inside is traditionally decorated, but at the same time modern with very clean and comfortable
The pool is great and has a swim jet which was great for us trainee triathletes!
I cannot recommend this villa enough if like us you like a place to relax and take it easy, but can still reach facilities and sites very easily, go and stay its definitely worth it!!

Room Tip: Any of the villas would be great it just depends on the size of the party which one you take
