We stayed here the first few nights of our honeymoon before driving east. The location is perfect... overlooking the main part of town, the harbor, the water, etc. The room was lush and restored nicely to the Venetian colonial period. The staff was helpful, charismatic, accommodating and knowledgable. Oh yeah, and breakfast was abundant and delicious.

Casa Leone is a small boutique hotel. We stayed here for 4 nights in August. It is an old, tastefully refurbished building brought up to date with air conditioning etc and period furnishings throughout.

Our room was very comfortable and had a tiny balcony with a small table and a couple of chairs overlooking the beautiful Venetian harbour at Chania.

Breakfast was fantastic focusing on local Cretan specialities and plenty of fresh fruit. We were very well looked after throughout our stay.

Being in the old town harbour area, there is some night-time noise, although it really wasn’t too bad and wouldn’t be an issue unless you are a very light sleeper.

There are plenty of restaurant options to suit all budgets in the old town, focusing mainly on Greek/Cretan and Italian cuisines with good seafood options.

I can’t find too much to fault with this hotel: being in the old town, there is no parking at the hotel itself, and our car did get blocked in for a few hours on the Thursday when a local market sprang up unexpectedly, (unexpectedly to me anyway), and if I’m being really picky, the en-suite to out bedroom (the oval room) was a bit on the small side.

Overall, this is a lovely hotel. We had a great few days here in Chania and hope to return one day.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Warm hospitality, exceptional food for breakfast and our hosts could not do more for us. Parking like all hotels in the old town is tricky but Maria went out of her way to get us a car park. The view is superb and all you need nearby.

My wife and I stayed three nights in Casa Leone on our honeymoon, and found it very charming. The location is fantastic, with great views of the port and a good base for exploring Hania. Antonia and the staff were very warm and welcoming, and helped us plan some of our excursions. Breakfast was a veritable feast, with fresh cucumber, tomato, feta and green pepper on toast, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt with fruit, granola and honey, crusty bread, fresh strawberries and melon, and a variety of other little bites. As some reviewers mentioned there is a bustling night life on the port side of the hotel, but it is mostly towards the other end of the harbor and was never disturbing to us from the Honeymoon suite. We also spent a night in the Edem suite (overlooking the courtyard) and found it comfortable and quiet, though without the lovely patio and view as of the Honeymoon suite. We spent a few nights in another hotel overlooking the Orthodox Church and found Casa Leone much quieter and nicer. We would certainly stay here again in our next trip to Crete!

We came from Canada to Chania for our honeymoon in June 2013. We were very tired when we got to the hotel and were earlier than the check in time. Maria met us at the door with a warm smile and generous greeting....she proceeded to seat us on the beautiful main room balcony overlooking the harbour, then brought us a platter with fresh coffee and fruit to tide us over until our room was ready for us.

The hotel only has a few rooms, which makes for a very intimate feeling and the room we had was fabulous! Every morning Antonia would be out in the main room preparing the breakfasts for the guests....what can we say, but wow! we have never had such fresh delicious breakfasts served in such good company. Antonia was so friendly and sweet, she was also a well of information on everything we had questions on and her suggestions were always bang on!

Nick the owner was so pleasant and was always making sure we were taken care of!

The reviews are correct regarding the weekend noise from the restaurants below, but Nick is actively in the process of submitting to the courts for this to stop, we felt so terrible that this could hurt their business because in all of Greece we did not find a more beautiful spot to stay.

Definitly stay at least once!, enjoy some of the best people, hospitality and quality, but bring some earplugs if music keeps you up.

We booked one night at the Casa Leone Hotel and loved it so much that we canceled our next 2 nights at a different hotel to stay longer. We wished we stayed there the whole time we were in Crete! The staff are very friendly and will help with anything you ask. We had a bad experience with another hotel later in our trip and called them to see if they had any rooms available. They didn't but the owner went around town with us and helped us find a nice place to stay. It was very much appreciated. When we checked in the first day we were given coffee, tea, fruit, and bread and sat on the balcony overlooking old town Chania. Our room was so cute, we stayed in Estia double room for 2 nights and the last night we stayed in the private honeymoon suite. The hotel is in a perfect location. If you want a nice romantic place to stay in old town Chania this is it!

Room Tip: Breakfast is good!

Although beautifully located on the harbor it is positioned directly over the late late night bars. Our bed was a double and very small for my daughter and I. Very charming and Antonia was lovely, on the end of the Harbor beside Maritime museum.
