Set in Chania Old Town this is a great place to stay, its certainly the best side of town as its on the edge of everything and easily placed to go everywhere. Chania is a beautiful labyrinth of old Venetian streets and full of charm. We stayed at Casa Veneta in the first two weeks of June 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, it was a pleasure to encounter such wonderful hosts in Stavros and his charming son George who own and run it ,great people who effortlessly make it all a relaxing experience . Wifi is free and very quick and there is parking nearby, the rooms are cleaned daily and the general feel is it all works well. Stavros and George deserve the good reviews as they get and we would certainly add to that.

We loved our stay with George and his father Stavros! They were very friendly, welcoming, and full of information about Chania and the surrounding areas. They provided us with recommendations on non-touristy places to eat, and how to get to the beautiful beaches of Western Crete. They also provided us with beach towels, and told us the history of the hotel, along with it's beautiful set of doors.

The rooms are spacious and clean - nothing luxurious, but very comfortable. Our rooms had a small kitchenette with a sink, fridge and burners. The bathrooms were also very clean - however, we had tiny european style showers, so this might not be the best option for those looking for spacious showers. Both of our rooms also faced the street, and had cute little balconies so we could have a drink and people watch. (however, we were barely in our rooms during this trip).

The hotel is located in the old town and walking distance to the venetian port, the agora (market) and the public beach (nea chora). If you have a rental car, you can park it nearby in public lots. The street the hotel sits on is very quaint, and there is a great bakery/cafe just across the street to get your morning coffee and breakfast.

We were lucky enough to stay at Casa Veneta for a week in July, and it was a magical experience.
The location is excellent, nestled within Chania Old Town (beautiful) - but on the best side, close to the harbour, and near to street parking (handy if you hire a car). It is located on a lively and interesting street, with plenty of supermarkets (small & large for your convenience), great tavernas/cafes, shops etc. We also found that Casa Veneta was within easy walking distance to the rest of Chania (including bus station)

The hotel is clean and welcoming; the room itself was fantastic. We had a balcony that looked out over the street, and the ocean at the bottom of the street. It was very, very spacious, comfortably furnished, and immaculately clean. It was truly a pleasure to stay in that room. WiFi was excellent. We also enjoyed the small kitchenette, and found everything we required to prepare a few simple lunches and dinners in our room on the rare occasions we didn't eat out.

However by far and away the best thing about staying at Casa Veneta is having the pleasure to meet Stavros and George. They are two very special people, who were always so cheerful, happy, and ready to go above and beyond bar in order to make your stay special. Stavros welcomed us with a wealth of his local knowledge, and providing us with numerous itinerary options and a map. He also helped us to arrange a rental car, which was greatly appreciated as we had left it to last minute, during high season. George also gave us lots of tips and help, telling us about the good places to eat and menu items to try. Definitely listen to their tips - we had a perfect holiday in Chania, which was largely thanks to the tremendous help that they gave us in terms of planning etc.

Honestly, I feel that this is the best place to stay in Chania, if not all of Crete. I really miss this place already, and cannot wait to return to Chania, and Casa Veneta.

In a quiet pedestrian street just off the harbour lies a real gem for accommodation. The rooms are simple yet comfortable and quiet. But the key to this place is the The owners 'Stavros & George'. They are without question the most welcoming of hosts I have encountered; ready and willing to help with any problem from getting a clothes line to upgrading to a balcony room; nothing seemed difficult for them. My friend arrived before me & my son and the room was ready & available with Stavros entertaining her. Their wealth of knowledge of both the history and the current environment in Crete is priceless. No need for a tour guide when you have Stavros to explain the the archeological sites, let you know the best places to visit and where to eat etc. Without a doubt the best place to stay in Chania.

Room Tip: If you can go for a balcony

George and Stavros are excellent hosts and very accommodating with great recommendations. Everything was perfect. The location is great on a quiet pedestrian street right off the harbor. The room was comfortable and quiet. This was our second visit to Xania, and our first time at Casa Veneta, and when we plan a third trip in the future, we will happily return to the very hospitable Casa Veneta.

Tucked away in a narrow side street in the old quarter of Chania, Casa Veneta has plenty of olde worlde charm. It is a new, four storey building which we have sympathetically reconstructed from an old Venetian facade. We have kept the atmosphere of the Grand Venetian period by using stripped polished wood for our interiors, and giving some studios a gallery bedroom.A friendly, most charming base in an excellent location from which to explore this historic and atmospheric town. ... more   less
