My partner and i stayed here at the start of september. When we arrived in the early hours of the morning, we were told immediatley and rather rudely by an older lady to get back in our taxi as they were fully booked. Not really what you want to hear after 12 hours travelling. There were 3 other couples that had arrived on the same flight as ours and had been told the same. We refused to leave and we had booked a superior double apartment. They gave us and another couple rooms but 2 other couples had to go to another hotel. When we shown to our superior apartment, it was not what we had booked. It was a standard apartment. Their website shows pictures of their superior apartments to be the newly refurbished ones and the one we were shown was not one of these. We were eventually given a superior studio and we were happy to stay in that room but we were asked twice to move! I dont know who is to blame for the over booking, we all had booked through travel republic. I would come here again but i would highly recommend booking direct through frida and talking to Johanna.
Johanna sorted everything out and nothing was too much trouble. she is a very lovely lady and incredibly helpful.
The actual apartment and site is really beautiful, it is a 5 minute drive from chania or a brisk 25 minute walk. there is a bus but we prefered a taxi which was never more than 6 euros. Johanna will ring one for whenever you need one.
There are 2 pools, despite all the apartments being full, we had the bottom pool to ourself for 3 days and even when they re being used, they are never busy. Plenty of sunloungers to go round.
We stayed in the 'honeymoon suite' which is a superior studio and it is lovely. You wake up to veiws of the sea, there was a small terrace to sit out on. There was a small kitchenette with a fridge and 2 hob rings but no oven/kettle or toaster. It was usuable but very basic. The apartment had a nice lay out to it and we found it comfortable. There was a wardrobe and dressing table, a safe in the wardrobe, a sofa and table and chairs. Free air conditioning and a flat screen tv too.
The bathroom was lovely and the shower was good, plenty of hot water. sheets and towels were changed every other day but the cleaners came daily. The 2 cleaners are really nice ladies and i cannot fault the cleanliness of the apartments at all. They are absolutely spotless.
If you stay here, you MUST eat at the restaurant. Yannis the chef, is brilliant and his food is beatiful. It is also very reasonably priced. We ate there a few times, my partner had swordfish which was only 10 euros and it was beautiful. I must also say that if you want a light snack/lunch there, i would highly recommend the club sandwich. We shared one as it is served with scalloped potatos and only 6 euros. Also try the marmalade that is homemade by one of the staff there, it is yummy!! we were given a pot to take home and it didnt last a week!! its too good!
We went to the BBQ night on the monday, make sure you go and register to go with reception. The food was amazing and we all got up and did greek dancing. 15euros each. Fabulous night.
You get free wifi, just ask for the code. the signal is better in the restaurant.
Everywhere is really clean and tidy at the apartments.
Apart from the hiccup at the start of our holiday, we had a lovely stay at Frida apartments. We would definately return but i would recommend that you book direct with Frida. Frida appartments are situated in a slightly remote area but it doesnt stop you from getting anywhere and it is a really beautiful setting and beautiful views. Well done to all the staff at Frida and Thankyou for such a beautiful holiday.

2 of us spent a week at Frida. Lots of good things
-the weather, the staff{domestic staff and Yannis}, restaurant food, general cleanliness, proximity to Chania and the swimming pools.
Wifi was just ok
The main concern was the room description and allocation. Our 'superior' apartment was superior only in size and not condition as I was led to believe from our booking. It was far more expensive than the studio apartments and some of these had been modernised whilst our superior apartment had not. Some accommodation had no views and I would not like to have been allocated one of these. We talked to other guests who had a similar experience to ourselves with very little response from the management.
Get a precise written description of what you are being allocated in terms of renovated or not, seaview or not. swimming pool view or not.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. The only issue we had was that it was a little farther than we liked from the port town of Chania. It is about a 30 minute walk into town, which is by path along the beach mostly. The walk is enjoyable...but a bit far as mentioned.
The accommodations at Frida are very comfortable and there was plenty of space in our suite.
I would recommend doing the full day trip to Samaria Gorge is you enjoy hiking and the outdoors. There is a beautiful beach at the end of the hike which is well worth the workout! You can set up the transportation through the hotel.
Overall, we enjoyed Frida and loved the town of Chania.
For food in Chania, try Portes...great little spot.

We arrived about 11pm and were shown to our room, which was a superior apartment down beside the smaller pool. I had orignally asked for a sea view, upper level when I booked back in January and when i was shown the apartment that night I was a bit disappointed as i was hoping for an upper level with a sea view. Joanna, the hotel manager, was very kind and told me that if i did not like in when i saw it during the day she would try and arrange a move for us. She did explain that we did have a sea view from our balcony area (No.33 we stayed in beside the smaller pool & it is the only one down beside this pool that has this little kind of balcony area, all the others are on terrace level). The next morning I was pleasantly surprised and delighted with our view!No.33 is also a stand alone apartment with no one beside or above you which is great if you don't like noisy neighbours! Joanna, was a great help I have ot say and so was her colleague Frida. Yes it is about a 25 min walk to Chania harbour but it is worth it to have 2 fabulous pools! And for those that like the beach its only a 10 min walk away. We had 2 separate rooms in our apartment & was handy to shut the door to our bedroom as the fridge did make a slight bit of a noise. Air con worked perfectly & safe in your wardrobe which you have to pay E10 for the week. We would definitely recommend Frida to people who want to relax by the pool as it is so peaceful with amazing views of the sea!

Room Tip: Our apartment No.33 was a stand alone, with no building above, below or to the sides so good if you don;t like noisy neighbours! If you want a panoramic sea view, then ask for one of the rooms near ther main reception which are at the upper level.

Everything inside the room was very old.
The bed it was very old and you can't sleep well.
Also the washbasin and the shower was very old and you can't recognise the hot and cold water.
Swimmin pool was also not very clean.
