“A charming small hotel in Chania”
Reviewed 7 June 2012

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay here in May.The hotel is conveniently situated in the old part of Chania just a few minutes walk from the venetian harbour. The room was tastefully furnished in a traditional style and opened out onto a roof top terrace. Although the bathroom was small it was nice and had a good shower. A very delicious breakfast was served in the delightful courtyard garden. The staff were excellent and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. The young man on reception insisted on carrying our cases to our room and brought them down for us when we left He also suggested some good places to eat in the evening. Chania itself is charming and a good base for exploring western Crete.

Me and my husband stayed here at the beginning of april, we had a lovely time in Chania.
This hotel was amazing the staff made us feel so welcome, couldn't help us enough.
We ate like kings every morning with the 5 course breakfast that filled us up for the day!
Nikos an yannis the two brothers who run the hotel were fantastic, me being 5 months pregnant they always asked if i was ok if needed anything extra pillows ect.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and i would stay here again for sure!

This hotel could not be better situated for visiting Chania Old Town, and it's easy to get to the modern area too. Graffiti is everywhere in Greece, so don't be put off if you see any on the wall outside the hotel. The buildings outside may seem a little run down to many Europeans, but once you step over the threshold, you're in for a lovely surprise! Hotel Spianzia is a true gem. A small boutique hotel that was a true delight to stay in. There may not be a lift, but there aren't very many stairs, and the fit young man on reception took both our cases and fairly leapt up the stairs to our room. Plus he brought them down again when we left! Everything about the hotel was tasteful, but the breakfast was out of this world! We have NEVER had such a good breakfast in a small hotel. this was no buffet bar - food was brought, we ate, thought we'd finished breakfast, then more food appeared. this happened several times - and it was all delicious! we will definitely stay there again, and are happy to recommend it. It's a real oasis, with staff who could not be more helpful.

Room Tip: we liked the one up one flight of steps, which overlooked the internal courtyard

Me and my wife stayed there for 2 nights and enjoyed the city. The stuff were interested to offer any advice needed. room excellent but beware of the possibilty of fighting evil muskitos. breakfast was so good (at least for my personal flavour) and realy kept us very satisfied.
price was a good value.
We would return here!

Room Tip: all of them are ok. most upper might be better.

Best breakfasts ever - we were expecting yoghurt, honey, coffee, orange juice but in addition had each day a different selection of freshly made pastries, avocado, candied fruit and pancakes. The rooms were stylish and there was an outdoor patio area. Hope to return one day

Room Tip: Back of hotel may be quieter although church bells 7am cannot be avoided

I stayed two days in March 2012 (my second stay there) in this lovely and very friendly small hotel. It is family owned and the staff is really friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious with traditional furniture. The bathroom was just adequate since I would like some more amenities there. The breakfast is almost home-made, prepared according to your taste. Do not hesitate to order and taste almost all offers. The staff is willing to prepare everything for your breakfast. There is not any elevator, however the people working there will help you with your luggage. They will also help you to find a parking space as the hotel does not have any of its own, as well as assist you in finding a good place to eat. Do eat at the restaurant opposite to the hotel. In the room, you will find also a TV with satellite channels, although I would like a new flat screen TV. Fast wifi connection is offered at no cost. Just ask for the password during your check-in. I believe that the price was excellent for such a nice family-owned hotel.
The place of the hotel is also excellent to visit the old town of Chania. All in all, it is a very warm and friendly small hotel and you will have an excellent place to visit Chania as long as you do not expect a typical business hotel with the corresponding amenities.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing at the back of the hotel as they are much more quiet!
