We stayed only one night here but would whole-heartedly recommend it. It's very well located, convenient for the bus station, the old town and the waterfront. In fact, it is an old building in the old town (though not the most atmospheric bit of it), in a bustling commercial street (but that all stops at night - no noise issues). Our room was clean and welcoming with a small balcony overlooking the street and the welcome from the owner very friendly. Definitely a winner.

Located just in the heart of the old town of Chania, very close to the wonderful old Venetian harbour, Diporto is a really nice, cozy hotel. The rooms are confortable, with a small fridge that allows you to store food supplies of any kind. The bathroom, inside the room, is small but furnished with all the necessary. Everything is cleaned and the wi-fi connection is just free.
But above all the kindness and availability of the nice landlady will make your stay there as pleasant as if you were home. Especially recommended if you are looking for an old fashion atmosphere, rather than the same standardized modern hotel look. I really miss it! Eccellent!!!

Great location as it is very near the port,in the middle of the nice old town, you do not need to use bus or taxi. You can find anything around it as restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, bus station etc...Traditional style , very cheap but not so clean, no other facilities than a bed to sleep and a bathroom. At night yhou could listen people of other rooms snoring (xaxa), it was noisy, not hot water 24hours....but Mrs Xenia the owner was very polite, kind and helpful.

On a roadtrip thru crete, we stopped in Chania without having a place to stay. After lunch, we decided to walk around and found this place. The owner was sitting outside and showed us two rooms and we negotiated a rate on the spot. After being there a while, we noticed that there are a LOT of places like this one all over... that is probably the best way to find a room in Chania.

The rooms are basic but have everything you need for a few nights. It was clean, had wi-fi thruout the facility with a mini fridge, two twin beds and private bathroom. We couldn't have asked for more.

There is someone there 24/7 (at night, it was the owner's son) and everyone was friendly. The location is excellent, at a walking distance of anything. Parking was a few blocks away but available.

I would stay here again.

It is centraly located which can be good and bad. Good as in everything is in walking distance. All the souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants and the picturesque old harbour of Chania. Bad as in the night it can be noisy and you are woken up early, by churchbells and the shop owners who come to open their shops. If I didnt use my earplugs I would have had a hard time sleeping. The bedroom was spacious enough with a cute small balcony. On arrival the room was clean and tidy but after 3 days of staying there, it looked like Mrs Xenia only stepped into our room to throw out the rubbish from the toillet dustbin. Nothing else. We had to ask her to change the towels! In general this small hotel was untidy. In front of the public toilletes on the sinks it was filled up with with all sorts of clutter. Even plates and eating utensils!!! I would advise that you lock up your things in your suitcases when leaving your room, as one day we walked in on Mrs Xenia being in our room with 3 strangers, who as she told us where guests who wanted to see the bedrooms! Unacceptable!!! Overall... Dissapointing

My husband and I stayed at the Diporto on a Friday night.
The location is very central, which was one important reason for picking this hotel. The reviews were also good, but I feel they are a bit misleading.

Our experience was not so good. When we arrived I noticed sand in the shower and in the sink in the bathroom. My husband brought this to the attention of the receptionist, who went to our room to give it a second cleaning. I was disappointed to still find sand in the sink, and the shelf under the mirror was also dirty and dusty. We gave up on getting it fixed, and didn't bother to change hotel for the sake of only one night - something which I regretted,

I was kept up to about 3 in the night by a live singer in a club in one of the neighbouring buildings. The windows did not do a good job at keeping the noise out - and my earplugs wasn't good enough help either. The next morning I woke up around 7am because of noise from the nearest street, as well as some construction work that was terribly noisy and made it impossible to fall back to sleep.

The room we had was on the first floor, and very small. The double bed does not provide space to get out on both sides of the bed in this room, but I believe it does in the other rooms. The free wifi worked in our room, but the signal strength was very low. The door does not keep any sounds out from the hallway, not the windows the sound of the motorcycles in the street.
The bathroom fan was also very noisy and went on automatically with the bathroom light.

So... the place has clean sheets, a good price, central location, and a very helpful and friendly receptionist. If you don't mind a lot of nightly noise (which travels easily through the windows as well as the hallway inside the building), the price is low if you can deal with some dust and dirt. If you need a quiet place and have cleanliness high on your list of priority, then this is not the place for you.

Room Tip: Request a room at a higher floor. More stairs, but less people will be passing your door (which you...
