This is still the perfect family run Taverna that is has always been. However this year had some lovely new dishes on the menu.Really spoilt for choice. We are vegetarian but didn't have any problems finding different things to eat every night. Can't really say any more, except "love you, and see you next year guys xx".

With a view over the harbour & open air dining this is a pleasant spot for lunch. We had the Greek plate & Greek salad & it was very good. Fresh ingredients prepared on the spot with freshly squeezed lemonade at a reasonable price.

We found this taverna whilst trying to find a cheaper option yet still traditional. It was an absolute brilliant find.
It is very much the same style as many other restaurants in the area, but the quality of food is just excellent.
We took the feta in the oven, garlic bread, mixed meat main, chicken souvlaki and half a carafe of rose and it was a very reasonable 21€.
The bread for both the garlic bread and the pitta served with the chicken was the best we had all week. The chicken souvlaki was by far the best I had eaten all week.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Again, this is slightly off of the touristy port, away from the likes of the Ferryman etc, but it is a great find and as usual excellent quality for an excellent price.

First time I visited this restaurant in April 2012 when we arrived in the hotel in the morning but did not manage the time for the breakfast. So we went to Elounda to find some food. Vachus was one of the few open restaurants at that time of the day and year. Ordered some meze to take away - and liked very much.
In August 2013 went there for lunch and were impressed by the tomato soup served - that was the best we ever tried. Returned there 2 more times - for another lunch and a farewell dinner. Dimitris (the restaurant co-owner) suggested we order goat (the way they make it for Easter.
Thank you, Dimitris, for great food and welcome!

We had tried this taverna, on a previous visit, about 10 years ago, and couldn't remember why we hadn't been back to it, on subsequent visits, so decided to give it a go as we passed it every day going to and from our apartments.

The food was OK, not top of our list, but nothing wrong with it. However we were ripped off with the wine. We ordered a litre of house wine, it came in an earthenware jug, which the waiter poured into both of our glasses as soon as he brought it to the table. We refilled our glasses one more time, the jug was now empty. We thought he had misheard us and thought we had asked for a half litre but on checking the bill we had been charged for a litre. We asked him if he had brought a litre, he smiled and said he had. We couldn't be bothered arguing the issue, you don't want it on holiday, but we will never return there again. We have been visiting Elounda, on and off, for over 20 years and this is the only time anything like this has happened, nothing major, but an incident which left a bad impression
