“Amazing! Beautiful Place! Complete Bliss From Start To Finish!”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

The Elounda Bay Palace has an ideal location for all holiday makers from small children to the Elderly. Stiing beautifully just a stones throw from Mirabello Bay and just a short walk south of Elounda Village. The views are to die for!! and you become mezmurized by the Creten Mountains on the horizon and is only a 15 minute walk from the shops and restaurants.

Breakfast is a must from the restaurants at the EBP that are right on the water and I highly Reccommend Thalassa, furnished with whiter than white wicker and floor lanterns. The Sail in Bar is more casual before heading into Elounda for an evening meal and stroll by the waters edge. The atmosphere is great and it's a must if you want to kick back and let your hair down, Creten Style ;), You will think your on a boat rather than in a bar haha ;).

There is a lovely beach with a wealth of Sunbeds and umberella's and if you love to spoil yourself then after a day soaking up the sun I would highly recpmmend a massage in the luxury spa and maybe a manicure and pedicure. They will make you feel like royalty from the moment you step in.

It would seem that all the apartments have a stuuning view from all angles. I would highly recommend this for couples and families though not for groups of teenagers as I believe this could easily spoil the ambience of the hotel, (No offence but we all know what groups of teenagers can get up too) :/ . Lovely Hotel, Great staff and everything within a 15 minute walk of the Village.

We went in 2012 but couldn't put that as not on the When did you travel list.

Room Tip: I highly recommend the Bungalows as ours had everything you need for a home from home!! King Size Be...

Set on a beautiful blue-sea bay about a 1km walk out of the main resort of Elounda, which is small and slightly down-market. There were few other Brits at this hotel- mostly Russians, so British children looking for holiday friends may be disappointed. When I go to a hotel at this level I expect even the basic rooms to be a good standard, but these were exceptionally basic. I guess you're not meant to spend much time in the room, but our first two rooms (main building- be warned & ask for a bungalow upgrade immediately upon arrival) had virtually no air con. Again, hotel staff all round (bar, restaurants, reception) simply weren't as accommodating as you'd at this price point. Buffet food was really fresh and of a pretty high standard- as with all such arrangements, you will inevitably get bored towards the end of the week, though. We met one honeymoon-fortnight couple who had eaten out virtually every night despite being half board, just to be served at their table and get a change of environment- the evenings here are pretty dull and lifeless. Like them, we went half board with Thomson, which didn't include drinks- so, you end up spending quite a bit extra on lunch, drinks, water sports, etc.- really think at least soft drinks should be included (apparently they are if you book half board direct). Thomson rep was next to hopeless, and not based at the hotel, so unless you get a superb deal with Thomson you may well be better off booking the whole thing directly- flights, taxi from airport and hotel. In short, the natural environment, creating stunning views, is the key/only selling point. A shame, because with all it's natural advantages, it could be truly fantastic here.

Room Tip: Will be much better if you upgrade from the main building to a bungalow type room with shared privat...

Great location, chic with high quality furnishings, excellent choice and quality of food for half-board. Invariably smiling and attentive staff.
Two attractive sandy beaches with good bar/restaurants beside them.
Bonus of use of grounds and facilities of adjoining sister hotel Elounda Beach. Together this gives acres of lovely grounds, a choice of 4 beaches and numerous restaurants.
Only a ten minute walk into village of Elounda with its tavernas etc and also a pleasant walk out onto the un-spoilt Kolikintha peninsular.
End of season , so hotel was pretty quiet and difficult to judge how it feels in high season - whether children may affect peaceful setting ?
There are several similar top class hotels on this stretch of coast, but I personally would not hesitate to return to this one because of the expansive grounds and walking proximity to Elounda village which none of the others could offer quite so well.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms face east so lose afternoon sun on balcony. Mountain view rooms are west (afternoon s...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Elounda Bay Palace hotel. Our unique location being secluded in our own bay and on the outskirts of the village of Elounda, is an enviable position. Together with our sister hotel the Elounda Beach we command over 1000m of waterfront and acres of mature Mediterranean gardens providing a colourful and scented backdrop to our hotels. Only a stroll from the fishing village of Elounda with its many shops and tavernas easily accessible gives our guests the opportunity to sample the local Cretan lifestyle. During the height of the summer we do have many families staying with us but because of the layout and design of our hotels they never feel crowded. We have a dedicated staff providing activities and amusements for all age groups. We look forward to welcoming you again to the Elounda Bay Palace for a future stay.

Kind regards,

It is a pleasure to read that you so enjoyed your stay with us at the Elounda Bay Palace hotel and we would like to thank you for sharing this with the readers of the Trip Advisor website. The only good part about leaving the Elounda Bay Palace is that you can be assured that you will always be welcomed back, like so many of our loyal guests, as an old friend. Our staff works hard to uphold the standards of the hotel and is proud to provide the friendly and professional service that our guests anticipate when making their reservations. We spent a week at the end of September and found the whole experience exceeded our expectations. This was helped by being upgraded to a bungalow with private pool which allowed us to completely chill out in temperatures reaching 30 degrees. The food at the hotel was excellent and the location was dramatic with mountains all around us. It was also not too far to walk into Elounda (about 20 minutes) to sample some of the local Tavernas, we would certainly recommend The Ferryman. Overall experience was excellent which gave us a completely relaxing week.

Thank you for writing a review on the Trip Advisor website. We are delighted that you enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the Elounda Bay Palace. Our staff works hard to provide the kind of ambiance where our guests can unwind from the first day. The chefs in the restaurants create a wide variety of dishes to suit all tastes. The location of our unique hotel makes the Elounda Bay Palace one of the top destinations in Greece and we look forward to welcoming you again for a future stay.

We regret if you found the last week at the hotel lacking in any way as with the facilities of both the Elounda Beach, as well as the Elounda Bay Palace, for you to choose from the range of venues and activities, are very varied. Our loyal staff is always on hand with their own special brand of Cretan hospitality and many of our guests return for the friendliness and warmth of our staff. We look forward to welcoming you in the spring and thank you for taking the time to post this review.

We stayed for a week end of Sept early Oct and were very impressed with Elounda Bay Palace. Prior to our departure from UK we very nearly cancelled this accommodation due to the incredibly negative reviews on this site. We decided to upgrade our original garden view to a sea view room and this proved a wise decision as the view of this beautiful bay is amazing. We found the food was excellent for buffet and had a wide choice and themes daily - we had half board plus option which included drinks with your evening meal, the local house wine was quite quaffable too.
Guests were mainly British and Russian and this was fine - we met a lovely Russian couple on honeymoon who were a delight practising their English on us! So all in all a lovely hotel in a super part of Elounda with good food, excellent staff in all areas and of course having that crystal clear water to swim in made it a lovely weeks break in the sunshine.

Room Tip: Sea views are worth the extra

Thank you for writing this review on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately so many people are swayed by one of two poor reviews and it is always those few that the holiday did not live up to their expectations that unfailingly write on this site. However as you discovered the majority of our guests have a wonderful holiday and we are proud to be able to boast that our repeater guests rate is over 40% at the Elounda Bay Palace. Thorough out the season we maintain a good balanced international guest mix and find this works well. We have the hotel under constant review and are always listening to our guest and revising what is popular to cater for and anticipate our guests’ expectations. We look forward tow welcoming you again to the Elounda Bay Palace for another relaxing friendly luxury holiday in our unique surroundings.
