The Elounda Blu has the most amazing stunning views you could wish for, everyone was so friendly from the hotel manager to the waiters etc, nothing was too much trouble, i would have to say the only disappointing thing for me was how basic the rooms where and the lighting and drawer space were poor! but as i said before the Staff , food and views made up for that, and you have to go down to the beach bar and see the girl who looks after the bar on the beach she is called Natasha, she is so lovely with everyone.
You can walk from the hotel into the centre of Elounda and in the other direction you can walk into Plaka were you will find the most amazing bars they are so romantic and full of atmosphere.
How anyone can say don't go to Greece right now because of their present enconomic situation is beyond me, we had no trouble whatsover and i would go back to Crete or any of the Island tomorrow.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a super ior room with a pool if you can afford it they are lovely.

Just got back and wanted to share my thoughts of the Elounda Blu hotel.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and with my partner being 6 months pregnant we were pleased to being given a room a short way up the steep hill. (it is steep, no denying that)

The room was basic but we didn't mind. It has a small bathroom with a shower (with an overhead shower head, a six nozzle body jet and flexible head). A large firm bed, a tv (not many channels for English speakers, BBC news channel was the highlight) but no tea/coffee facilities. The decor is ummm odd and looks dated but the rooms next to ours seemed to being through a makeover so I would hope the other rooms follow suit. The view from from the room is just stunning and worth every penny. Highly recommend that you wake up extra early to watch the sunrise, it's simply stunning and you'll never forget it.

Food and drink, we went all inclusive so don't know how much meals cost. We just had to wear a blue wristband to indicate we were all inclusive. You can get a drink or snacks from the pool bar (within reason, there's a list of things you can have on all-in) and also from the beach bar. Natassa at the beach gave the best drinks service and always had a warm smile, we will miss her. Each night the meals were varied and quite nice. Some things might not be to everyone's taste but it suited us. Again, the service was excellent but they are keen to clear your plates quickly but not rushing you out, think they just like tidy tables. Sitting out on the balcony for breakfast or evening meals are a must as the view makes it wonderful.

The pool is seawater based but you do need the refreshing dip to cool off if there's no breeze. You need to get to the pool early to reserve a sunbed, just place towels (available from reception) on your chosen beds then go for breakfast.

We chose the beach over the pool as it was a bit cooler with the breeze. It's not a sandy beach it's quite stoney and with it being mostly black it can get hot under feet by midday, flip-flops are an essential to get not the water. The water has very very small waves (non-tidal) and only gets choppy when a boat goes past. Get a snorkel! There's so many fish around the little piers and it's really clear water. Just walking back up the hill to your room will wear you out. We've come home with fitter legs!

That's enough rambling but the verdict is we would go back in a heartbeat. If you want a relaxed stay with great memories and service then Elounda Blu is the place to go.

My Girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel on a half board basis from 3rd - 10th July 2012 through Thomas Cook. After checking in at reception and being greeted with a friendly welcome we were introduced to a Concierge who very kindly escorted us along with our two heavy suitcases to our room. The hotel is situated spectacularly on a hillside with outstanding views of the sea however walking up the steep pathway to our room proved to be hard work, so please spare a thought for Concierge carrying our luggage!
We were extremely pleased with our room and bathroom which were very clean and modern. Our balcony offered an excellent view across to Spinalonga. Paying €18 non refundable for the use of the rooms safe was a minor disappointment as I believe this should be a repayable deposit.
We found both the breakfast and evening meal food selection to be excellent and of a very good quality. A special mention must be given to the Restaurant staff who were very attentive, kind and provided an excellent service.
On a couple of occasions we visited the Hotels bar after our evening meal and found the prices to be excessive to say the least. A glass of Baileys was ordered and it literally came in a shot glass, we were charged €6 for the pleasure.
Finally my last comment will be regarding how friendly, caring and attentive all staff we encountered were. No request however big or small was refused and we were extremely pleased with the level of service we received.
The stunning location, views and friendliness and service of the staff make this a wonderful hotel to holiday at and one we would both recommend without a moments hesitation.

My fiance booked this great hotel in May and we went at the end of June to the 6th July and we were all inclusive. What appealed to us was that the hotel was for adults only...however, I'm not sure what constitutes as an adult as some children were there when we stayed.

I have to say that we loved our stay at Elounda Blu. The room's were not as advertised, as most reviews have said but ours was totally fine and perfect to retreat from the heat with the fab air con to watch a subtitled version of Project Runway hah ha. The bathroom was adequate, the shower was good but not very big and could have done with a bath. The view from our window was a-mazing!

We didnt really stay in the pool area, which was quite small but we loved the private beach just off the hotel. Some days were busier than others but we never went without a lounger and the girl who ran the whole thing, Natassa was great. The fact we could just step into the med was awesome. Even for a non swimmer like me :) We decided to treat ourselves to a speedboat to Spinalonga...which made us feel like rock stars (well I thought I was Daniel Craig without the six pack). Would really recommend it! Not Spinalonga but the speedboat part...even if I was nothing like 007 getting on and off it!

The food was good. Yes, some of it was recycled from the night before but it was always hot and the salad fresh. The staff in the restuarant (and in general) were very friendly and attentive. Not great food but perfectly adequate. Didnt really like the breakfast ourselves (especially the weird little cocktail sausages).

The entertainment provided was quite enjoyable too. We even joined in with the dance troupe on our last night. Sophoklis on the pool bar was a legend. Playing some good music whilst we played Scrabble. I have to say all of the staff at Elounda Blu were excellent and we can't fault them.

We spent some time in the steam room there and used their Jacuzzi for a reasonable fee. Good but not great spa but I'm sure you'll be going to sit in the sun instead!

We got a really good deal, and you have to be realistic. We payed £700 pp,all inclusive including flights and transfers. I don't think we would have paid more than that however.

Overall, we had such a great time at Elounda Blu and we both went back to the sunny old UK totally chilled and relaxed. I would not hesitate to go back to the hotel again. The only downside and this is not really a fault of the hotel is the massive steep hills you have to navigate (I wanted to hotwire the golf buggy but couldn't).

Great views, great staff that totally made you feel so relaxed and chilled. Even, if no matter what we didnt get a tan. But you can't have it all!

Room Tip: Get a room on the ground floor! Ask for a sea view!

My wife and I stayed ther June 2012 and paid a premium for a one bedroom pool suite. On arrival we wer shown to our first room yes it had a private pool but ther was a huge palm next to it totally blocking out any sun for all but a few hours a day. I complained and was given another room. This did not have a huge palm blocking the sun but there was no place to sit around the pool. These pool suites and shared pool suites have been added on as an afterthought and very poorly designed. A little more thought and very little cost would have seen a deck area where you can sit around the pool. I cannot understand why have a pool and no place to place a sunbed. My advice do not book either shared pool or private pool as they are a total rip off. also the official photographs do not accurately reflect the actual situation. Take a look all the photos are the same pool taken from a different angle.
We also took the all inclusive deal again a waste of money the lunch is the same every day salad with nothing to go with it or pasta from the previous evening. We were there for 7 nights and ate out on 3 nights! Drinks are the cheapest rubbish they can obtain water is an extra! No drinks in the room fridge and if you want a drink around your private pool you will have to walk down the very steep hill to the bar and climb back up, hardly a relaxing expereince. Be aware of this.
I will return to Crete but never to Elounda Blu

Have just come back from a weeks holiday at the Elounda Blu. We had mixed feelings about the place.
We had decided to go all inclusive ( not something we normally do ) but there was not too much of a price difference between HB and AI when we booked.
The transfer to the hotel took an hour and a half with 5 stops. On arrival to the hotel we were helped with our luggage to our room which was in the 200's so not too much of a climb! Our room was dark( found a bulb missing from a light), bathroom was small. But the air con was fab, beds comfy and the view was fantastic. The balcony was fine for the two of us. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, so we asked for a kettle from reception, which was fine.
The pool area is lovely and relaxing with great views, did get a bit breezy some days, and our umbrella took off one day and nearly took some people out! The beach area is great too, it is a stony beach and you might get some locals down there with kids but is generally quieter. Not great for snorkelling not too much to see.
The real let down for us was the food. Ok Breakfasts were good, lots of choice. Lunch was however recycled from the previous nights dinner with salad. My husband is fussy at the best of times but even I had had enough of the same food day in day out. Dinners were always advertised as mediterranean buffet. It was just not very appealing. We did try to eat at the grill bar one lunch but it is not for AI guests just paying customers! We decided to eat out in Elounda the last night to have a break from the hotel. On a plus note the asian restaurant was fab, we both had a lovely meal. They might need to add some kind of screen as we nearly got blown away up there. It had been closed one night due to the wind! Also being AI we were told where to sit as paying customers got the pick of the tables with the views.
We bought bottled water at the nearest supermarket, the shop at the hotel is very pricey. As mentioned previously all the staff are fantastic. They are so friendly and helpful.
Elounda is about a 20 min walk away,(best done in flat shoes in daylight!). For us we would have preferred to have been closer to the resort.
Do go to Spinalonga, we went on a TC tour with the BBQ. Good swimming/ snorkelling off the boat. Fantastic tour guide, Rula, she was very informative. Plus an hour in Ag Nik.
Overall, we felt the Elounda Blu was not geared up for AI, limited entertainment in the evenings and none in the day. At least the football was on! There was some minor alterations going on at the hotel and this was entertaining!! Some improvements and this could be a great hotel.
