My wife and I have just returned from the Elounda Blu hotel.....all inclusive 2 weeks.. The food, restauant & bar service, cleanliness, and desk assistance was in our opinion 5*. Our room was No 318, with balcony & had perfect views of Spinalonga Island.....a treat each morning as you open the curtains! The hotel has it's own man-made shingle beach with walk-boards, fixed thatched sun shades, good sunbeds and bar service for drinks & snacks. Pool area very good with adequate sunbeds/parasols and again a good bar service. The buffet food was excellent - breakfast, lunch & dinner - all hot and varied. The Asian restaurant is also worth a visit - book a time slot at reception - food is cooked to order, and is very good. The hotel is adult only, and you need to be able to walk up & down steep slopes & steps.....not too bad up to 3rd level, but there are 5 levels....not for the faint hearted.
Local bus services to/from Plaka & Elounda/Aghios Niklas excellent & cheap. We so enjoyed our 2 weeks here, as all of the staff and management were efficient, very friendly and helpful.....we shall definitely be going back to the Elounda Blu.

Room Tip: Rooms 318 & 319 excellent location overlooking Spinalonga and Mirabella bay. As there are lots...

My bf and I have just returned from a lovely holiday at Elounda Blu. Firstly the location of the hotel is lovely and the views are absolutely amazing! The hotel staff are all very friendly, especially the chef in the main restaurant, the girls at the pool bar and Petra one of the managers. The rooms are pretty basic but are comfortable and are cleaned daily. On one of the nights during our stay they had a 'pool party' which was great, a DJ came and played lots of classic 80s music and some current music and it was a really fun night, everyone in the hotel seemed to enjoy it! The asian al a carte restaurant was lovely too, worth a visit. The main buffet restaurant was really good too, the food was always varied and everything we tried in the week we stayed was very tasty and very fresh!

Now a few little points that I feel I must raise, we are used to travelling all inclusive however with this hotel we found it to be a little 'less inclusive' than what we are used to, for example there is an all inclusive list showing what drinks are available if you are on an All Inclusive package, all other drinks that are not on this list have to be paid for, there is a Grill restaurant near the pool but again if you want to eat there you have to pay for this as its not included in your all inclusive package. My biggest gripe was that they do NOT provide bottled water in the rooms. I thought this was a pretty basic requirement, especially for all inclusive however this is not something they provide, so if like me you want water in your room make sure you ask. In the end my bf and I found it easier to order bottled water with our lunch and then take it to the rooms ourselves. All of this aside we still did have a lovely holiday and as mentioned the location is great with wonderful views and the staff are great.

On the day of checkout we weren't being collected until 6pm so we asked the reception if there was a room we could use to shower in as we wanted to sit by the pool for most of the day. They kindly told us that we could use the shower in the Spa. It was the best shower I have ever had!! Anyway my point is that I wouldn't bother paying extra to keep your room if you only want it to shower in because you can use to spa if you book a time slot with them.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 410 and had a private pool and good views.

We stayed here in late September for a week AI.
The staff were amazing and really make the hotel a pleasant place to stay. From the receptionists, the managers, the bar and waiting staff, the housekeeping to the maintenance staff all were friendly and helpful. They all work long hours but work so hard to ensure that all guests are comfortable and happy!

The hotel is lovely and has great views. The grounds are full of flowers and trees and the pool area is very clean. The beach is also very relaxing if you want a more peaceful environment to laze in the sun.

The rooms are nice. We stayed in 518 (on the hill) which was a basic but very clean room with balcony and gorgeous sea view. It's nice and quiet up there and we had no complaints about the room at all!
We were on Honeymoon and arrived late after a delayed flight to find flowers arranged in a heart shape on the bed and a gasket of fruit and a bottle of wine. Such a simple touch but it made us feel welcome at the Hotel. The staff had also left some sandwiches and water in our fridge as we'd missed dinner so we were grateful for some nourishment after our journey!

We were very lucky that the Hotel offered us a complimentary upgrade to a suite with sharing pool after a few days. We had room 203, a huge suite with a big bed, 2 bathrooms, a sitting room, jacuzzi, and a lovely outside area with loungers, a table and chairs and of course the pool! It was fabulous... A real sun trap in the mornings so we had a lovely few days lazing by our own pool in the mornings amongst the trees and flowers admiring the view of the sea and Spinalonga. The water was quite cold but perfect for a dip when we got too hot in the sun.

We were AI and I didn't feel that the staff were more attentive to those guests who paying for drinks as the other reviews have suggested. Infact even thought he bars were busy during day/ night the staff did an amazing job working non stop and looking after everyone!

This was my first experience of an AI hotel. The food was plentiful and nice although personally I don't think I would choose an AI hotel again as I get a little bored of eating in the same place 3 times per day!! They did their best to vary the choices by having Mediterranean, Cretan and Greek nights but I prefer the A La Carte to the buffet style (once again this is a personal view), I also found our meal times were done and dusted in 30 mins and there was no real point to lingering over dinner as you might usually do on holiday as all the food was there ready! I also found it a bit off putting to see people back and forth with plates piled high with random foods but then again I guess the benefit of this kind of thing is that you can try a bit of everything!

We did go to the Aisan restaurant which we really enjoyed and wished we could have gone more than once!

We went to the spa for some treatments. It was lovely, there was a heated pool, jacuzzi, bean bags and loungers for guests to laze by the pool and nice showers and treatment rooms. The girls at the spa were so friendly and professional! The sofa was very quiet We didn't see anyone there while we went so we felt like we had the place to ourselves...I would definitely recommend a visit to the spa for some pampering!!

We had a lovely time at the Elounda Blu. I would definitely recommend it.

We stayed here for 10 nights from 3/9/13 and it was just perfect. We arrived at 1.30am to find we had been upgraded to a suite with a private pool which was just amazing. Our room was lovely bed linen & towels changed every other day! We were AI and the food was fantastic, especially the Cretan themed day on a Friday! We spent most of our time on the private beach which was just gorgeous with access to drinks and snack at the beach bar. The Soma Spa was lovely for a swin late afternoon & the girls who work there are lovely! We caught the bus one day to Plaka & caught the ferry to Spinalonga then had lunch in Plaka which was lovely. Elounda itself is great, we had dinner at restaurant Olondi a couple of times, the food was amazing and spent a few evenings at Garden of Eded sipping on cocktails.
All in all the hotel and all it's staff were fantastic, we will definitely return!

Possibly one of the best holidays we have ever had, could not fault the staff or the hotel itself. As other reviewers have already said the Hotel is situated on a hillside and so the drive and access to the rooms is literally an uphill struggle, this is about the only bad point i can think of for the hotel and grounds. Rooms - the rooms are pretty basic TV, Hairdryer, and A/C however they are cleaned daily and the towels are also changed daily (or at least ours were). There were in our opinion enough loungers to go around by both the pool area and the beach, the beach is man-made, lots of small bricks can feel somewhat sharp under foot so we would suggest bringing the beach shoes along with you, however once your a few feet out its not too bad. At all the bars we found the staff to be very friendly and polite Kostas and Natassa were the best at making very potent cocktails. The restaurant the main one had a fantastic choice of food morning, noon and night, we were only there for 7 nights but we had something different every day, lots of choice for even the fussiest of eaters!

The not so good stuff now : Don't bother going to the Asian restaurant limited choice and not a lot of it either, if your AI and feeling a little bored with the buffet then give it ago by all means but we found the main restaurant much better than the Asian one.
The Hotel Shop nice but expensive 6 x 1.5L bottles of water ( and this is about the only thing that isn't included in the AI entitlement which we thought was a bit on the tight side) 6.60 euros, fifteen minute walk away in Elounda town 6 x 1.5L bottles of water 1.30 euro, we're not tight but just hate to be ripped off!
Rep meeting in our opinion very good ... but under no circumstances should you book any excursions with the rep as they are a total rip off for example, Spinalonga rep price 32 euros each plus 5 euros each for access to the island itself payable locally, the cheapest we found a boat to Spinalonga for was 7 euros each this was from Plaka you can get a taxi there for 7 euros or its a 40 min walk , now to be fair the reps price includes a bbq style meal and a swim at a beach on the way back.... ok price in Elounda town for a bbq lunch and a swim at the beach on the way back including transfers 18 euros each, this is just one of the differences in price between town price and reps price are more than half in some cases. The trips are organised through a very professional company who reside in the second rent a car shop in Elounda town (they also rent cars) as my misses is a little funny about going on trips that are bought through a rough looking guy standing on the beach, these people are nothing like this and as i have already said we had 2 trips with them both fantastic.
The last but not least point that annoyed us greatly was the check out time and loss of the AI facility, our flight was a night flight and we were being picked up by coach at 21.15, now we had to check out of our room at 12.00 midday which meant we were no longer AI for 9 hours and so there was 2 options either keep the room on until 18.00 for an extra 45 euros and so remain AI until then or vacate the room and pay the costs incurred at the hotel for lunch and any additional drinks, now again i'm not tight but have been to many AI's and have remained AI until leaving the hotel not until check out i think this is another rip off which i have complained to our travel company about if i buy AI holiday i expect to be AI until i leave the hotel/resort not have to pay extra !!

Room Tip: Ground floor or rooms from i think 100 to 120 are on the lower part and are easier access as opposed...

We arrived late at night and were greeted by friendly staff. A porter carried our cases to the 5th floor (so grateful he did!). Our room was at the top of a mountain near enough, I counted the stairs one day 100 of them not including steps walked too! Not advised for the fragile. The pool area was lovely, clean tidy and bar service was excellent. The room was clean and had air con thankfully. There were some small flies in the bathroom which I am blaming for 3 bites I received as saw no others the whole time. The room was cleaned daily and had a stunning view of Spinalonga. Couldn't fault the staff at all they were all friendly and enthusiastic. The hotel is in a very quiet location about a 20minute walk into the resort of Elounda. Very relaxing though. The Elounda Blu cocktail is well worth a try! The meals were the best Iv had of the all inclusive hotels I've had. The evening entertainment was entertaining, on Cretan night the dancers danced til they start asking the guests too as well. After what seemed like an hour of zorba dancing we were tired. I went with my male friend and because its adult only it was assumed we were a couple. It is couples only or so it seemed. Well worth the visit though, would recommend :)

Room Tip: Worth asking to be on one of the lower ground floors at time of booking if you're not a good wal...

On last day if our trip to elounda blu. Room ok had fab views to one side of balcony but a great whopping palm tree covered the rest. You will need oxygen to get to your room. All the team happy to help and a problem I had with the safe was resolved with amazing professionalism and charm. Food was diverse and well prepared. My biggest beef was prices, a Bottle of wine 2 euros in the supermarket was 9 euros in restaurant. Tomatoe juice 4 euros out if a carton. Safe key 18 euros smoothly 8 euros!!! Very dissapointed no shower room available on last day check out. Entertainment butlinesq and the dancers in their thongs got the old boys hearts racing. Would I stay again? Yes I think I would
