A family run, adults only hotel on the edge of the pretty resort of Elounda.
The staff without exception ( and in particular Popi and Hari) were friendly, efficient and generally very good at their jobs. The hotel was comfortable without being over the top. The Blue sea restaurant offered some very well prepared food in a beachside environment with friendly service. The roof top pool bar was the star of the trip for us. We will be back

Room Tip: Our room on the third floor had a small balcony with partial views of the sea

This hotel had some disappointing facts about it. For example, paying extra charges for air con - 6 euros per night. Very small balcony - just about enough space to sit. Breakfast was disorganised with guests bumping into each other when helping themselves from the buffet which was quite dangerous with hot drinks etc in the limited space given. But what irritated us most was having been supplied with a kettle and crockery in the room, when requesting tea bags (which we thought had been forgotten) we were told these were not supplied - so no refreshments. Overall, with just a little more effort on some of these things would make a more pleasant stay.

Elounda A, Manager at Akti Olous Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 22 June 2018

Dear guests,
First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.
We hold our guest’s comments in high regard, as through your opinion we can make our hotel and services better.
Please kindly note that a/c is locally paid, something already in travel agency’s info website. We also do provide a fridge in the room (not a mini bar) and coffee or tea facilities (no sachets are provided are clients have different preferences and tastes).
We hope that you will select Elounda Akti Olous again, as your accommodation of choice in the city of Elounda.

Lovely location , but the room we ended up in was the smallest room we have ever stayed in at any hotel around the world. Looked out on to the cleaners room , the balcony could only fit one chair and you wouldn't want to sit there anyway.
Bathroom had no extractor fan so as soon as you showered (very small again ) the room was hot. We ended up having to pay for air con just to cool the room after showers, this was ridiculous. We asked for a larger room only to be told that the only one available was 30 Euro a night extra .We saw the cleaner on the second day and even she said you have a very small room.
Breakfast was fine and the small beach was ok if you were early enough to get one of the handful of sun beds, staff were friendly enough and hotel was in a good location .

Room Tip: Think it's just luck if you get a large enough room as some were larger .

Spent a truly relaxing week in this hotel room was large, modern and bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast taken outside on the jetty was lovely. Staff were very pleasant and very accommodating the hotel is immaculate, sky bar has beautiful views overlooking the sea. Spinalonga in the distance. Pleasent walk into the town along the front but could do with a bit of maintenance as rugged under foot in parts. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Firstly let’s get the disappointing parts out the way, over 2 hr transfer which was was in huge coach too big for narrow streets , we arrived gone 2 in morning after delay with easy jet, the room modern and adequate with smallest balcony I’ve ever seen, 6euro per night for air con which us can’t possibly do without and 3 Euro per night for safe. This was advertised as 4 star with on the beach definitely not more than 3 , the beach outside hotel is not a beach very small area across road with sun beds. The pool area on roof has 18 beds around it which are mostly collard first thing by leaving towels on all day while they selfishly go off, tea making facilities ie kettle cup but buy yr own tea etc. Breakfast adequate for 3 ⭐️, good bits staff lovely they make hotel, good position lovely eating places very local, beautiful area sea gorgeous .
